So my 3 game takeaways after finally seeing the highlights:

1) The D'Agastino play should have been a goal. Devils dodged a bullet there.

2) The Yak pass to Hall was very nice. Way better than Loughlin made it sound on radio.

3) A bit less impressed after actually seeing the 2 Zacha goals, but at least he's playing better.

I disagree. I dunno why it was waved off, but I presume it was goalie interference. As far as I remember, he seemed to drive Kinkaid away from the puck. I mean, if that were legal, anyone with the puck would be allowed to turn and back into the goalie, pushing him away and potting a goal.

Disclaimer: I haven't watched the game on TV, so I'm just going by memory.

Same. I'm still concerned he'll be nothing better than 3rd-line on a decent team, but it is what it is. At worst case I figure he could be a Pandolfo sort given he's very solid defensively & killing penalties.

Pando? Seriously? It was physically painful watching that guy try to score goals even in his prime. Total defensive player. PZ has five times the skill Pando had. It's really not a good comparison. I'm still in a sort of hopeful wait-and-see mode withs Pavs, but the two are very different kinds of players.

For someone that doesn't care about Cory you still post enough about him. It'd be nice if you occasionally posted on something other than Cory or Keith, there are eighteen other skaters out there.

never brought up cory in this thread. made multiple posts about this game without goaltending because it was a non issue m.

also, i post a lot about other players and this team. maybe some people on here are just ultra sensitive about cory/kinkaid posts.

plus i can post about whatever i want. ive been on this forum for close to 20 years and my primary focus has been (devils) goaltending. i dont need someone telling me what i should post about. not too mention, ive been been pretty accurate with my assessments.

The Zacha first goal he tips it into the air on a bit of a whiff - but then, quite amazingly, baseballs it out of mid air and into the net. High high skill play, that, with his hands. Crosby started all that stuff of playing the puck in the air a while back, and now we are seeing it more and more across the league. (We’re seeing centering passes intentionally made in the air off the rush, but I digress).

The second goal it’s his explosive and bold move down the middle, splitting 2 defenders to make the shot. Great acceleration and strength. Also gets the shot off very fast, which is probably a big reason why Price couldn’t squeeze it between the arm and body.

The Agostino no goal was the right call. Agostino's momentum very clearly moved Keith backwards and prevented him from an attempt to hold the line.

His second goal was exactly what people have been pining for. He used his skill and speed to split the D and then MAYBE got a bit lucky on the shot but it was still a high quality scoring chance that he capitalized on. The first goal was a bit lucky I guess but it still displayed his skill that everyone hoped to see at some point. Hopefully he keeps this up because it's taking a lot of pressure off 9-13-21 to not have to offensively carry the team.

Yeah. I think the Puck crossed the line a split second before the net came off. But considering all the breaks that went AGAINST the Devils last season, I'll take it and run.

Some here are saying that it was Goalie Interference and that he was pushed in, though the Refs did not even say their reasoning to calling it a no-goal (and we still don't know) so maybe the Refs didn't feel it was interference. I don't know.

Refs suck anyway.

2) The Yak pass to Hall was very nice. Way better than Loughlin made it sound on radio.

Watching it on TV is better than listening on Radio. Loughlin can only do so much to make the call sound exciting.

I don't get this at all. For someone who basically couldn't buy a goal even if the goaltender stood still and didn't move, him getting not one but TWO goals is Terrific 'cause now his confidence is restored and I think we see him relax and just play hockey, and score goals.

Besides, the first goal was impressive because it looked like he batted it while it was in the air a bit, into the net. And the second goal was good because he recognized the mistake the Habs made toward the end of the Devils PP and rushed forward aggressively for the shot on Price. Now should Price have gotten that? Of course 'cause it was a very stoppable shot but he didn't. You don't hear Pens fans complain when one of their players gets a fortunate bounce.
