This is the best Cory's looked since the playoff series. He's had good games since he came back this time, but this was easily the best. I think if Keith was here and played this game as was originally planned, we get murdered and are talking about how bad the lineup was.

Not because Keith hasn't ever played a game this well before, but because he looked pretty shot his last several starts. It would have been like asking Cory to play a game like this back in December.

He looked solid. Only blip was on the first PP where he wasn't fast enough to get back and stop a break-away.

There was also that ill-advised pass to the middle from behind his own net that could've resulted in dangerous slapshot scoring opportunity if the Habs player didn't WHIFF on the shot.

Aside from that, I have no complaints myself.

The Dallas Stars fans may have been a bit over-reactionary on how bad Carrick is.

Maybe he just wasn't a fit for whatever passes for Defense on that team? :dunno:

I didn't notice him before he left anyways. I forgot he was even dressed.
I just remember him gliding around, looking slower than almost anyone else in the lineup tonight. And shooting a puck into the bench.

Oh yeah. That was pretty bone-headed. Reminded me of a few Zacha miscues this year.

I think he'll be trade fodder this summer. Someone's going to give us something for a former 1st round pick who put up good numbers in the AHL and "probably needs a change of scenery"

Devastating loss for Montreal make no mistake. They are going to make or miss the playoffs by a narrow margin. They can’t afford to lose to the likes of us.
Three times and just 1 out of a possible 6 points.

The Pens are in the same boat. At least one of those two teams is probably favored to miss.

I don't see him being worth anything straight up, unless it's a one for one deal for a similar player/AHL deal. He'll almost definitely hit waivers if he's still here after next training camp ends and he'll probably get claimed by somebody because he's a former 1st round pick.

We are living in a world where Keith Kinkaid can be traded for a 5th round pick on deadline day, while having a miserable season, so I wouldn't rule anything out.

He may be included in a trade like Blandisi was.

Yeah, that's my thinking as well. Part of a package.

Blandisi was part of the Henrique/Vatanen trade. He was a throw in.

There haven't been many games like this where we've won 2-1 this year. We've had good goalie performances out of all 3 guys at some point or another, but there haven't been many 2-1 wins this year. Keith had a few shutouts where we squashed the opponent by multiple goals, Cory had the shutout where we squashed Ottawa 4-0. Outside of Blackwood's 1-0 shutout over Carolina, there haven't been too many 2-1 wins and I know that was the only 1-0 win of the season. We've had some 3-2 wins quite a bit, but there's been many games where it just felt impossible to win a game 2-1 this year because of how ill-inspiring the goaltending was.

If I remember correctly, McLeod had absolutely no clue that pass was coming. Risky play but effective if the center is more alert. But I could be wrong because I was half watching tonight

Ya, he noticed it at the last second. I'll give him credit that it was on McLeod's stick, but still a risky pass right up the slot and was lucky it didn't result in a Habs goal.

Definitely looked like he was tracking the puck well.

cory’s glove save in the third made me jump out of my seat to yell. don’t easily remember the last time i did that for one of his saves.

if this cory is the real cory and is what we’ll get in 2019-20, then i think the crisis in net may not be as dire as we think.

mind you, this is all prediction and blind faith. what i do know is i don’t want this team to tank and i do want to see more games like that from schneider before the season ends. it’s something worth rooting for.

for christ sakes, playing glory days after a win, especially with the current state of this team, is a terrible idea

I wish they'd give up on the Springsteen love. The hate/love deal during a game break where everyone boos Nickelback and is supposed to cheer for Springsteen - there are definite boos for Nickelback, but the general silence for Springsteen's picture is noticeable.

The only glaring mistake I though he made tonight was on the loan goal. He gave up way to much on the blocker side when that seems like the only real spot Byron could shoot. Strong effort otherwise from Cory. :)

Might have something to do with that Carey Price guy.

It's no coincidence that he was dog **** last year and they were terrible and finished near the bottom. I almost wish the Rags could make the playoffs and embarrass them again, before getting stomped on in the second round.

I despise Price ever since his blocker attack on Palmieri. That's what a $10 million goalie is for the next 7 seasons? LOL!

I said it while it happened, but I think he played that like he expected Severson to take the guy down for the penalty shot, which is what he should have done by that point.
