I still don’t get why people keep wanting to shoehorn Zacha into a role on his off wing he isn’t suited or shown capable of handling.

Simmonds at least has experience being successful with high IQ guys.

Well that’s what preseason is about. See if it works. Hell if Goose and play RW then Zacha is on his strong side. I’m not saying that can or will happen just a point. I think Zacha can accidentally rake up points with those two, hell I think a couple guys can.

He has played RW before and Gusev is a right shooting forward. It's really not that big of a deal. If Simmonds returns to form I don't mind him on that line but that's a big if and if not then that line would struggle a lot in the defensive zone. That's why I would put Palmieri on that line if given the option. But if not then Zacha would be the 2nd option for me. I'd feel more comfortable with Simmonds with Hall/Hischier than with Hughes/Gusev right out the get go.

He brings nothing to that line. He doesn’t play the game at a high enough level to keep up with them nor is he tough enough to protect them or be a net front presence.

You would have to pay me to wave my hands from side to side and yell heyyyyy hooooo.

I also never said I liked fun.

I don't expect you to either be paid nor wave your hands in the air and wave 'em side to side like you just don't care.

But I definitely expect other Devils fans in the Crowd to do so and it will catch on, imo.

Wood wasn't on a line with Jack and Goose (there has to be a nickname for those two around that) for chemistry but as muscle. When the season starts expect Wayne Simmonds to be on there, you think they're going to let the kid out there without protection?

I would hope they don't put somebody with Hughes just to "protect" him. If Simmonds can't hang with him I don't want him playing there. Hopefully we get something resembling Simmonds prior to 2018-19 who can both produce and provide muscle.

I was there and am a Bruins fan and I enjoyed watching PK...he was in to it.... Hughes looked good in space, but 5v5 understandbly he struggled IMO...His first goal not rushing the shot was pretty deft tho.
He had 61% of the shot share at 5v5 last night

Does Simmonds have any recent history being successful outside the PP? His even strength numbers are very weak.

I really think it’s not as complicated as we think it may be. If Boqvist keeps this level of play up, roll with

Hall-Hischier-Palmieri
Gusev-Hughes-Simmonds
Boqvist-Zajac-Bratt
Wood-Zacha-Coleman

If we’re talking about rolling the 12 best players, this completely allows us to roll 4 lines with no issue.

I think we can agree that Hughes has made the team. I also heard that McLeod had a good night. If he continues to impress we could see him starting on the fourth line.

I was there too, I thought he looked more than ok on 5v5, he could have easily had several assists if his line mates finished.

To at least start off the season until his gets his feet (or skates) underneath him, I don't think it's a bad idea, yeah it's the new NHL but there are still headhunters out there.
