ehh I wasn't one of those people who predicted him to have some ridiculous impact in his rookie year.
He doesn't need to be a superstar in year one but 36 points would be a hugely disappointing season.

The difference even between 45 and 36 is a wide gap in my opinion let alone 60. Hughes needs to start producing more because his pace right now is just inadequate.

Name the last #1 overall who had worse than 40... every#1 goes to a bad team and even Yakopov managed over 40...his production is worrisome right now.

i honestly don’t care about his point totals. i care about him adjusting to the nhl and getting some valuable experience. a .4 PPG isn’t anything to panic about...he’s a kid, some take a little longer than others

It's not exactly easy for a small player to generate a ton of points on a shitty team as a playmaker. Most of us were predicting about 50-60 points but we also figured devils would actually be decent this season...

Also, he'd have 5 more points if Hall scored on his ridiculous setups (I said this before already).

Also, if the pp coach wasn't a complete dumbass he'd be getting more points there too.

Everyone here wanted more than 36 points when the season started, but now that we've realized the dream of Hall staying + immediate cup window is dead, we want Hughes to develop his elite skills. At some point this will hopefully turn into elite production. I don't know how long that will take but I believe it's coming down the road. A decent upward trajectory over 82 games will be a victory imo, it's a tough league.

The continuing STORYLINE = "mindless filler" to you?

Let's see :

"Vader appears, says the Emperor is coming to the Death star", then we have the whole
"Luke and friends go to Free Han Solo from Jabba" part which was exciting....

I just don't see how all that is filler.

Yes, the Ewoks were a bit much on the silly side but they served their purpose for the movie.

Long story short, if you don't have the patience(and I emphasize this) to listen to dialogue and follow the STORY (and if you are one of those who prefers Michael Bay "boom! EXPLOSIONS! YAY!" scenes), then of course you're not going to like the movie.

Anyway, this is the NJ Devils GDT and this is Star Wars night.

Let's hope the Devils use the NAS-force and defeat the "evil" Chicago Blackhawks Empire.

Obi-Hughes Kenobi is back tonight at least.
I value good character and story development over action sequences. First 75 minutes of RTOJ is useless stuff in Jabbas palace and in the woods of Endor being caught by teddy bears. Does nothing for the main plot, it is indeed filler. This is pretty much agreed upon by many Star Wars fanatics.

Wow this is a hot take.

Han taking down the shield gen, Lando and my boy wedge taking out the death star, Luke and Vader taking out the emperor and yes, the teddy bears take out the empire....

Last jedi and rogue one were steaming piles of nerf dung.
You literally agreed with my post lol. That all happened in the last act, like I said there was nothing in the first two thirds of that movie that helped the main plot. It was all filler until they finally got back on track in the last act.

Overall I thought the team wasn't all that much better than usual, just Blackwood bailed them out with big stops when in other games he would let in 1 or 2 more goals. Vatanen being out would be crushing, the defense is just so bad. I fear this is a bad team regardless of who's coaching it, and after Hall gets sold off it's going to be dreadful.

Agree the EWOKS are filler.

Saving Han from Jabba's place was most certainly NOT filler.

I don't know who those "Star Wars Fanatics" you keep referencing are but they are loony if they think the rescue of Han was filler.

That's fine for most other prospects not for one that you are expecting to lead you out of the doldrums...not for a player you are expecting build around....
Yeah, there is a lot to worry about...getting two good players with 2 #1 overalls in 3 years is not good enough. Sorry it just isn't. If all we got was good we'll be rebuilding for a decade.

What impact? He's on pace for 36 points.
He sprung Wood for a breakaway that he of course didn’t finish. He finished with zero points, therefore he had a bad game. If Wood scores, he would’ve recorded a point, thus having a good game. I’m a big brain boy.

Or you can just use your eyes and see that he was electric all night and was clearly the fastest and most dangerous player on the ice in a game that featured Taylor Hall and Patrick Kane.

It was absolutely filler. They had to put that in because Lucas forced Han back into the storyline, Harrison Ford didn’t want to do the last one and thought Han being frozen in Empire was the perfect way to go.

Regardless, the Jabba palace side plot was way too long and did nothing for the main story, the ‘adventures’ in the woods of Endor and being captured by bears was way too long and did nothing for the main story. Only one scene in the first two acts of that movie helped develop the story. It was Luke talking to Yoda and Obi Wan, thats it. The main story was put on hold until the final act which started with Luke talking to Leia about their father. We needed MORE of this development, more content of Vader and the Emperor , more content with Luke and Leia. But all we got in the first two thirds of that movie were those irrelevant side plots. Its by far the worst one of the OG trilogy and I rank it below a few other Star Wars movies as well. Its a big disappointment until the end.

But to each their own. :5:

Bah. I'm glad they forced Harrison Ford (Han) back. He is as iconic in the Franchise as Luke Skywalker, imo.

Him getting killed by his own son in TFA was a pretty powerful scene that I enjoyed.

I think THAT was a much better Ending to Han Solo instead of having him permanently in Carbonite which would feel so incomplete.

"Chewie, we're home." still gets me every time.

I just wish we'd gotten one last shot with the Big Three in the Falcon's cockpit.

That’s my only gripe with the Force Awakens. I wanted Han and Luke together for one last time.

Your inability to look at anything in actual context is stunning. Players are jealous of your ability to cherry pick.
How is this for cherry picked?

2020 Hughes December 7th on pace for 34.69 points -
35 points would be the worst #1 overall 18 year old campaign since Patrik Stefan two decades ago.

2019 Dahlin Dman 44 points
2018 Hishier 52 points
2017 Matthews 69 points
2016 McDavid 45 points in 48 games
2015 Ekblad Dman 39 points
2014 MacKinnon 63 points
2013 Yakopov 31 points in 48 games
2012 RNH 52 points in 62 games
2011 Hall 42 points in 65 games
2010 Tavares 54 points
2009 Stamkos 46 points
2008 P Kane 72 points
2007 Erik Johnson went to College #2 Overall Jordan Staal 42 points
2006 Crosby 102 points -
2005 Lockout - Would've been Ovechkin's 18 year old season
2004 Fluery was the #1 in the 2003 draft - Eric Staal # 2 overall 31 points
2003 Rick Nash 39 points
2002 Kovalchuk 51 points in 65 games
2001 Rick DiPietro was #1 in 2000 - Danny Heatley #2 overall 67 points

Wait, people are crapping on Hughes tonight? The kid was EVERYWHERE and created so much, great to see coming back from injury. He was our best player. If this team can f***ing score he would have so many more points. It’s criminal how many of his set ups were not finished so far this season.
