Devils celebrated tonight as if they were already playing in the Cup Finals. It was odd to see during the second week of the season. It was also cute to see them running around knowing Wilson is suspended. The Caps played their backup goaltender and played last night. I wouldn’t take too much away from it. Ultimately the Devils will be competing for the wild card and will lose in round 1 should they make it.

How the turn tables.

I can guarantee you right now the Devils aren’t winning the Cup this year.

why you heff to be mad it's just a regular season game. PS: that backup goalie saved Caps ass all game, if not for him making three or four highlight reel saves Devils would've scored 10 or more goals.

Devils took runs at the Caps? I only recall Hall getting hit by Orlov somewhat late and then another Cap, maybe it was Oshie, taking a run at a Devil in the neutral zone.

How could we have been taking runs at Caps while flying through the neutral zone with the puck and essentially being in the offensive zone for 85% of the game?

I also love the irony of a Caps fan whining that we were “running around” while the biggest “run around” player in the league is suspended.

Uh...no.

They are better than most people give them credit for though, just like last year, and the team is better than last year.

Ovechkin also spent the last 10 minutes of the game doing nothing but taking runs at guys.

Isn't this just bizarre? Just weeks before the season started, everyone had the Devils pegged to miss the playoffs after a Cinderella run last year. But look at them now? 2-0, demolished the Oilers, and then made the Capitals look like a high school hockey team. This team is so good and this is while Hall just has ONE point in two games. Discuss.
The bizarre thing is the fact that no one can predict but people think like analysts who get paid to do so, that they would have that ability. They use past seasons cold hard facts and cannot write about stuff that could happen. For example every being in hockey knows that Tampa Bay will be a playoff team, however if, an unlikely if 3-4 core players gets injured heavily, the challenging teams might bridge the gap and drop them out of a playoff spot. Probably a bit different scenario but Kings were out of playoffs the very next year when they were the reigning champs. No one wrote about Kings going down. There are so many teams, players, ups and downs, of course we are going to get surprises along the way and thats the best part of a hockey season

In 2013 they started 8-1-3 and still missed the playoffs but glad devils think going 2-0 means they are cup contenders.

Silly thread. Right now there is a D pacing to break Orr's records and a forward on pace to match Gretzky's best season. It's been under 5 games for all and 2 games for you. Everyone should know not to over react until around the middle of November.

Could not agree more. The Hockey News rankings seem to essentially be “let’s take last year’s finish and change a couple teams by one slot.” Easiest job in the world.

Learn to count, its just one fan.

Yeah, one fan that most of us are not familiar with.

It's also funny if you look at his post history prior to this thread - he hasn't posted since July and those most recent posts:
* Claimed NJ's prospect pool is bottom 5 easily
* Complained that the Devils didn't outbid the Blues for Maroon because they were too cheap (NJ offered more, he signed there to be near his son)
* Complained about the lack of free agent signing this offseason
* Claimed that Tyler Johnson would be a massive upgrade on Zacha (Zacha has looked great so far)

This guy's a joke.

Same for other posters that claim the OP is a representation of Devils fans.

Yeah but this year, Kovalchuk won’t get injured so we are guaranteed to make it!!

It’s one person who has seemingly never posted on our board before. Relax Ranger fan.

They got off to a hot start last year too, only to fade down the stretch and barely hold onto the 2nd Wild Card. They subsequently got KO'd in 5 games in the 1st round. Maybe we should pump the breaks here.
