If Murphy is off the Board by the time the Dev's pick...who do they take...Siemens or Hamilton?

On my top 10 draft picks I projected that the Dev 's would take Hamilton...but after further thought I not so convinced that Hamilton would be their guy. 50/50...what say YOU.

I'd go Siemens, he patterns his game after Stevens. I know Devils may want more offense but he'd be a great pick given Nugent-Hopkins, Huberdeau, Couturier and so on are all gone. I'd go Siemens over Murphy as well. I think Siemens can be something special whereas I'd have Hamilton as a Brad Stuart type. In my last mock I had Siemens going to Atlanta but now that New Jersey is looking at a better pick than Atlanta, I have Siemens going to New Jersey.

We have enough Siemens type players. Need a 2 way or very good puck mover.

Hamilton easy if Murphy is off the board.

Inconsistent. He has tools to be a good 4-5 tough D-man but he has a lot of maturing to do still IMO.

I'm not his biggest fan though so take it for what it's worth.

They will take the best player available as they have always done. Most Devils fans including myself haven't seen any of these players play so threads like this are pointless.

Hamilton would be the wise choice. IMO he's a more physical, less offensively gifted version of Alex Pietrangelo. Jersey would be crazy to pass that up.

    Douggie Hamilton's (6'4" 193lbs)
    2010-11 Regular Season Niagara IceDogs 67 12 46 58 35 77

    Duncan Siemens (6'3" 200lbs)
    2010-11 Regular Season Saskatoon Blades 72 5 38 43 40 121

Thought it was worth posting their stats for the year.

I love Siemens personally, I could care less about the Devils though.

Is he actually more physical, or is he just bigger?

I've seen a couple games online (very small sample I know), and he didnt seem to initiate much contact at all.

I think from what I seen, he is a bigger, less skilled, and similarly physical (not very physical) Pietrangelo.

I could be wrong, seen very little of him.

    I just LOVE Siemens.

Siemens is a more defensive 2 way defender, where hamilton is more offensive what do the devils need more?

Offence for sure. I think they'd take Hamilton out of the two choices presented. But Lou and Conte have said repeatedly that they always take the player who they feel is the best available, regardless of the team's needs. If the Devils pick at 5-7, I don't think that will be either of these guys.

Yes. If Strome or Huberdeau are on the board when the Devils pick, I think they'll take one of them.

Some Devils fans also like Murphy and would take him over either of the players in the OP.

Hamilton, but personally he's maybe 8th on my rankings. I'd rather nab Huberdeau or Strome if they're availible, and Murphy, too, if he's there.

  22. No...

If we draft a SAH d-men with a top 8 pick, I'll probably smash my 52 plasma LCD TV. He's a good player, don't get me wrong, but he's the last thing we need. Our team can't create offense from the back end we need a puck mover instead of something we already have galore.
