Even when they practice the shootout it's a disaster. Supposedly in that team-wide practice only four shooters scored, and one was Volchenkov

Yes I remember that. That's a joke. The goaltending hasn't been good either. Marty gave us a chance to win the first one (Despite being ass in regulation) but he gives up both vs Edmonton. Cory looked like he was gonna stop the first one tonight, but he didn't.

It's more on the shooters though. We've been scored on 5 of 11 times this year, but are 0 for 11 when shooting.

Just finished watching the most frustrating game of the season.

Some notes:

-Cory Schneider was terrible. I don't want to hear "ahh, but Marty would have done X, Y, or Z on those goals". No. He just wasn't good enough and should have stopped BOTH of the Canuck goals. I was extremely disappointed with his play, the Devils did not allow many scoring chances and Cory misplayed the little he had to face. Play Marty next game for the love of god.

-The team played great, everybody from top to bottom had a good game, I really don't have much to complain about. I thought Larsson had his best game in forever, he actually *gasp*, skated into the zone with the puck! Wow! Gelinas was an absolute beast and needs to stay up with the big club. He has a fantastic shot, he can skate well, he plays D and his passing is hard and accurate. There's really no reason for him to be in the AHL. I haven't followed this kid's career so I am pleasantly surprised with what I am seeing, he needs to stick around. Mark Fayne had a strong game, I remember a big hit from him and several good looks at the net. Greene was probably NJ's weakest defenseman in my estimation.

-I thought the offense created chances, but Luongo simply outplayed Schneider. I wish they would finish more though, Loktionov (who had his best game of the season) missed a wide open net and so did Henrique in the shootout. Those guys need to bear down and finish especially with NJ in its current situation.

I really enjoyed how the Devils played tonight, if they had some competent goaltending from golden boy Schneider, they would have taken two points in regulation.

I want to see this exact same line-up against Boston, except with Marty in net.

Well then thats a definite loss . I have zero confidence with Marty, his save % is .865. Thats beyond atrocious.

I want him to go back to Marty for Boston. I said this all along that if we lose to Vancouver, go back to Marty for a game.

My biggest worry is that he sticks with Marty for 3 or 4 games in a row, even if he struggles worse than Cory has the last two games.

Would it really surprise anybody to see Dumbeor bench Cory over some of the questionable goals the last two games?

And? I'm really sick of hearing about Marty's save percentage, we're 10 games into the season, who gives a ****? Plus, if Schneider wasn't the beneficiary of playing behind an unstoppable Devils team against the Rags, in which he faced zero scoring chances the entire game, his save percentage would probably be disappointing as well.

Marty has been the best for 20 years, after a lot of rest, there is no doubt in my mind that he can bounce back against the Bruins and provide this team with better netminding than the garbage we witnessed tonight.

This team is doing things right eg. playing cory vs. Nucks but then Cory has a bad night. A lot of bad things and breaks are accumulating and we're about to ruin our playoff chances in October.

Play Marty against Tampa. Atleast we will have a chance to win that game
I don't think we're gonna win that game either. TB just beat the Blackhawks 6-5 tonight. To be fair, it was the Crumbling Bulin Wall in net, not Crawford.

We always make their team look like legit cup contenders. We seem to regularly give up hat tricks against them too. We also make their nobody defense and jabroni goaltenders look like the 95 Devils too. And even their scrubs look like Stamkos when we play them.

I just watched the highlights. Most of the goals given up by Khabibulin were real long shots. He looked like a combination between Marty the last game and Cory tonight. Why does that CORPSE still have an NHL job?

A couple of the goals Blimp Bishop let in were bad too. He looked embarrassing in that game. He'll be Ken Dryden when we face him on Tuesday.

I have no idea how Cory Schneider, a guy who this team gave up a top pick for, a guy this team is relying on to help turn the corner, comes into a pevital game and plays like that. Extremely disappointed with him.

It seems that, other than the Rag game, nothing comes together all at once for this team. On nights where the offense doesn't show up, the defense and goaltending does. On nights where the team is firing offensively and controlling the puck well, a couple of softies go in the other way. Its really, really frustrating.

With that said, Schneider needed to be better and he wasn't. I wanted Marty in this game after Cory had a weak outing in Columbus, now Brodeur better step in and right this ship against Boston. I really don't see how Marty can play any worse at this point.

Speaking of Tampa Bay, they're actually doing pretty good this year. With how incredibly bad the Metro has been this year, I can definitely see 5 teams from the ''Atlantic'' going and only 3 teams from the Metro making the playoffs. If the suckyness in the Metro continues.

Carolina is actually second in our division. With Cam Ward injured now (Khudobin is already injured too) I think they'll be down there with us, the Raggies, and Flyers soon enough. They likely would have anyway if not for the goalie injuries.

This is the third straight game Volchenkov has played like an NHL player.

If Gelinas gets sent down I'm going to off myself. What a ****ing difference having smart and mobile defensemen makes.

Anyways,
I've really soured on Brunner. He is such a coaster out there, and it pisses me off.

Olesz too.

Why can't Yayo get into this line up when he'd fit with Pete's system?

Bernier has looked off to me at times with his "4th line partners" I think he can be used on another line.

zubrus looks off as well....that contract is making me ill too

There probably getting steamrolled by Boston so it really doesn't matter who the goalie is on Saturday. My confidence level in Marty is at an all time low, though. I'm still smelling the stench from that huge dump he took against Ottawa.

I don't get the hate for Olesz. We're paying him chump change to be a warm body to be a role player and soak up some minutes here and there. That's exactly what he's doing, and he's actually put up a few points to boot. He has no business playing in the top line with guys like Jagr and Ryder, that's not his job and I don't know why people are bashing a grinder for failing at a top-6 role.

It's like the people who hate on Zidlicky for sucking at defense. IT'S NOT HIS JOB TO PLAY DEFENSE. His job is to score points and be the only defenseman on the team who isn't a dead fish in the offensive zone, and he's really good at that job. He's a 36 year old PP specialist, giving him top ES responsibilities like he's ****ing Chris Pronger or some **** and then complaining that he's not good at that is so stupid.

Khabibulin was REALLY bad tonight. Marty actually looked good this season compared to the goals Khabibulin let in tonight. It was as bad as Ottawa, maybe even worse. How the Crumbling Bulin Wall is even playing in the NHL anymore really has me scratching my head. He hasn't been relevant in years anyway.

Bishop was bad too. We'll make him look like last year's Vezina winner too, just like we do every time we've played him so far.

The rush by Larsson in OT was great...take the leash off plz

I honestly didn't think he had it in him, I stood up after it happened, thought we'd never see that again.

Clearly Larsson is much better than what we've been seeing the past few years, its just a matter of when that's going to come out

Who do we get rid of though? Only option is Fayne. Volch is untradable.

Fact ie if we didn't fart away sure wins on that road trip shouldn't have a problem with this loss. Team did what we wanted tonight. Pp looked good. Love more finish but good goals were scored. Good all around play. Both goals against need to be stopped. Also give credit. This is a very good Canucks team. No scrubs here. We play both sides of the ice like this we will win more then lose.

The problem with our goaltending is that we make every goaltender we face look really good. I can't see us averaging more than 2.25 goals per game this year with this system we're playing. There's just no finish. Yeah we win the possession battle and all the advanced stats battles, but our shooting percentage has been putrid since last February. That tells me that we need to find a new strategy. How many losses like tonight have we had since last February? More than half our losses have looked like this since that time.

The only goalie we destroyed this year was that dude on his way to a Halloween party that was dressed up as Lundqvist.
