Yeah, the shootout choices were completely nonsensical. I thought it was hilarious when Chico was trying to rationalize the list. "Oh well, ya know, you might have thought that Pete DeBoer would go with players with some more offensive skill, but..."

A guy like Loktionov who actually has the coordination to pull off some of those dekes would be nice to see. Even Zubrus has better hands than Zajac.

What really burns me is that we've scored first in 7 games this year and we've lost 6 of those games.

- How many games does Schneider sit for gift wrapping this game for Vancouver?

Also Andy Greene was horrid tonight.

I would not say horrid, but he was not good.
But, we still had the win for the taking.

Too many players are just not producing the way they should and need to.
And add in the bad decisions by Pete game in and game out, it's not that much of a surprise that they're not winning games.

I guarrantee you, if Pete keeps the D pairings the way they were tonight, that will change. Of course, we all know the only way to keep Pete from changing things up is to only give him 12 forwards and 6 defensemen, so I guess it isn't relevant.

LOL no he didn't. He re signed Harrold before free agency even started. Way back in the first couple days of June. I think he said he talked with his agent at the draft.

We also have three lefty defensemen (Greene/Volch/Sal) that aren't going anywhere for different reasons. Pete's been stuck on this whole 'left on left, right on right' belief for years. You have to get rid of one of them to make room for Gelinas since he's a lefty, or hope Pete finds religion and plays the best players irrespective to trying to fit players neatly onto their correct sides.

Some of you have to face the fact there IS nothing in the cupboard when it comes to the skills competition. Pete would be better off just picking the lineup out of a hat. We're not 0-12 because of Pete, we're 0-12 because we have a bunch of 20-goal role players that aren't scoring specialists.

That Henrique attempt looked in. How the hell do you miss there? Henrique is just bad in shootouts. Don't wanna see him in one again unless it's in the 5th or 6th round.

He's 1 for 6 in shootouts and 0 for 1 during in game penalty shots.

Yes his execution sucked, and I'd rather see Zidlicky over him in a shootout but I'm tired of seeing guys just skate in and fire easy shots into the pads, or make predictable moves that everyone knows are coming.

Like some had said, under normal circumstances of a typical we could chalk up this game to Cory and Greene making a critical error and costing the team a game. But the aura of this team needs to be cleanse because so far this season has not if they blow but when.

But hopefully they new look D is a start to the change but I'm not holding my breath ith PDB making the line up decisions. I'll need to see it.

And please, please don't give us fricking CBGB with 2 min left in a tie game, I don't care how well they played or how much you trust them.

I'm dead serious. We NEED a shootout specialist. I was hoping Tedenby might be able to be one, but he wasn't in the game tonight.

I'm not opposed to signing some bottom 6 turd that is useful in the shootout. The guys we got aren't getting it done. Knowing our luck though we'll get one and won't hardly ever go to a shootout ever anymore.

How about Zubrus? I only remember one attempt from him as a Devil. In a really long 9 round shootout against the Thrashers back in 08. He seems like he would be better than Henrique and Zajac though. I'd give him a try next time.

Dumbeor had them out late in the game against the Sedin's off a faceoff. Doesn't he get last change? Why the hell would you put them out there with the Sedin's? There were also a few anxious moments too.
