Can't just make blanket statements about the goalies though - also depends on what type of goals they are giving up. You also have to give Blackwood some benefit of the doubt based on his previous performances.

Kinkaid was letting in weak goals and struggling for a long period of time. The "defense" certainly made things worse, but I unfortunately watched the entire game last night and it's hard to fault Blackwood too much on a lot of the goals. The team in front of him was putrid.

yeah i agree with most of that...i’m just saying if kinkaid gave up 9 goals the narrative would be very different, that’s undeniable. the ‘previous performances’ idea is interesting, as kinkaid should have built some more fan equity than blackwood.

honestly, kinkaid probably would’ve given up 10 or 11, blackwood made some really good stops in between our team shitting the bed.

Kinkaid had a game very similar to last night back in late October in Tampa. He might have allowed one poor goal, but the rest were goals he had no chance on.

He got pulled after the 7th goal and Cory allowed one goal in relief and we lost 8-2. We didn’t have a back to back, so he got yanked in that one.

And if I recall correctly, we had a two goal lead in that one too.

Regardless of if you like or hate Hynes, it’s pretty clownish to draw any conclusions about his “system” with this roster.

There are pretty much only two outcomes possible with what we're icing now, go into a complete no event shell and maybe lose by a goal or two, or try to open it up and probably lose by 3+ goals.

Who's drawing conclusions based solely on this current roster? Here's everything you need to know: even when you add Palmieri, Hischier, Hall, MoJo, Boyle, Zacha, etc. to this roster, they still give up 3+ goals a night and they still lose more than they win (often in embarrassing fashion).

Like I said this is Mickey Mouse leadership, from the ice to the bench to the executive offices. Shero can be forgiven for the roster, because it's understandable that that takes time and good fortune. But he can't be forgiven for putting his faith in this coaching staff. It is an abortion. The idea that "development" can apply not just to players but coaches is nonsense. It's the blind leading the blind.

I vote for option 3, where we forfeit the games remaining.

Shero is ultimately accountable for sticking by Hynes, though I still think it's in part related to getting Hall to sign in the offseason so as not to upset status quo. I don't think any head coach this awful held on to a job this year, and I mean before we even had this parade of injuries. This also isn't the first horrendous year by Hynes, it's been mostly awful outside of last year.

That said, selecting Kowalsky and Nasreddine is on Hynes, and I hope we don't see them next year. Not to mention, what is Grier doing anyway? Our defense is profoundly inept at even strength and all we can really hang our hat on is the pk. Kowalsky, well what more needs to be said? Statistics and eye test say the power play is garbage, not to mention our OT follies this year, which I'd wager Kowalsky has a hand in as well.

If I'm remembering this right, didn't it come out later that Shero balked at the selection of Kowalsky by Hynes, but caved eventually out of respect for his head coach's decision? Or was that some other issue?

During the 7 game losing streak the Devils 10 AHL call ups (9 forwards, 1 D) have played a combined 49 man games, chipped in 3pts and combined for a minus 20
Over the past 7 losses half of the forwards in the lineup, on average, have been AHL call ups. Several of the call ups have played 1st & 2nd line minutes & power play. Tough to win if half of your forward roster is contributing less than half a point per game combined....7 games, 6 AHL call up forwards/game, combine for 3pts total

Yeah, I went to bed after 6-4.

I love this team but it's tough to watch us get our shit caved in immediately entering the 3rd with a 1 goal lead. With this roster, it's nice we're in some of these games at all. I'm happy that Coleman got to 20 goals, Palms got another marker and Zajac got to 40 points. Realistically just hoping these guys fight through the rest of this and come in refreshed next year.

Just End The Season.

Speaking of, Le'Veon! :)

The defensive system was definitely part of the problem earlier in the season, but then again they were also getting awful goaltending from Kink and Corey so its hard to completely judge everything.

Wonder how it ''Will be addressed''? Obviously Santini is out and Gabriel (did I call him Gryba earlier? Haha) comes back in or Quenneville. Not sure for who. Probably Lappin or Pietila. I would bet both guys will be in over two other guys on forward.

Isn't Colton White the extra D for this call up? May as well give him a shot. I've seen enough of Santini. He's reminding me a Seth Helgeson 2.0 at this point. A Seth Helgeson that doesn't even hit people anymore.

When did we have a semi healthy lineup plus league average goaltending? Don’t remember that happening this season. You can spin whatever narratives you want, but we’re having a bad year this season because of injury and horrible goaltending.
