Post-Game Talk: Devils come back from 3-0 to beat Avs (5-3)!!

Well holy s--tsticks.

That was quite the game for the Devils.

And I can safely say (though I'm not sure if @Bleedred agrees or not) that the 3 goals Daws gave up weren't of the Soft variety as they were lucky bounces for the Avs.

Daws did what the Devils needed him to do : Be average enough to keep them in the game long enough where the Devils have a shot.

Hughes and Bratt are just insane. There's no other way to put it.

Mercer is getting better.

Ty Smith....thou offense hast returneth??

Nathan Bastian doing Nathan Bastian things including the game-winner. Love it!


Anyway, time to pick your 3 stars of the game!!

For me the best part was the team not rolling over after going down 3-0 against the best team in the league. After a couple unlucky goals against I thought that the game was over and the Devils would just go through the motions the rest of the game. Nope. It kinda helps that we have Hughes and Bratt who look like they can generate chances at will right now.
Very proud of how they played and didn’t quit.

I slashed Daws for the second goal.

Only reason is because Rantanen didn't get a whole lot on that, which gave Daws enough time to get over and it really probably could have hit him.

Either way, if Rantanen doesn't partially fan on it, Daws has no chance to get over by the time it's in the net.

So it's pretty much a wash.

Do I account for this when marking a goal stoppable on the goalie or not? No.

Do I account for this when actually blaming a goalie and if I should really give the goalie a hard time over it? Yes.

However, I do always welcome somebody commenting on how they believe a goal was stoppable on one that I didn't count stoppable.

It sure beats all the defense of when I ding a goalie on something and they don't like that. Like on about 10 of the goals Gillies has allowed and probably 12-15 of the goals Blackwood has allowed.

''It was an elite shooter'', ''The defense is bad'', ''Ruff and Nas suck'', ''It was a seeing-eye shot'', ''He made about 10 quality saves while being left out to dry'', ''Jack Hughes creates just as many goals against as he does goals for''. And there's always the ''Look, we know Gillies is a bad goalie. Nobody is saying he's not BUT....''. There's always a but.
