That was the best outcome we could have realistically expected. Blackwood continues to impress. Bratt is clearly the most talented player on the team right now. I know that's not saying much, but he stood out all night for the Devils in a good way.

Nico is, but as far as our top young talent it isn’t a low bar at all. Nico and Bratt are both top tier talents.

It isn’t their fault literally all of our other talented players are either hurt or were traded away at the deadline.

Losing 1-0 with 3/4 of an AHL roster at the forwards position to one of the best teams in the league and some Tennessee Fire on ice - it wasn't all that bad of an evening.

That says zero about most of our team and the coaching staff. That says more about one, how good blackwood is, and two, how Bruins were just not able to finish much tonight.

McLeod has been given basically zero chance of being offensively successful when Hynes has him playing with two plugs like Lappin & Pietila…might as well let someone from here play on his wing.

MBW having a strong game behind this depleted lineup is probably a much bigger deal than many would think. Yes it’s still a small sample size and maybe he hasn’t been scouted yet or had anyone do a video analysis on him but in terms of raw ability he’s made saves that I’m skeptical Cory or KK could make.

Unless he played with Coleman or Bratt I’m not sure anyone would have helped him

His sample size continues to grow and he continues to produce good results.

Blackwood was solid, but I don't think this was lop-sided. Look at the shot carts. Boston had a bunch of perimeter shots and the Devils had a few good, close opportunities.

- Coleman gets 18:46 of ice and he just doesn't look right to me
- Greene, really has been solid and I was on him earlier in the year, but he's calm and his decision making in the D-zone is usually pretty solid (positions, passes, wrap-arounds, puck protect). He got 19:11 of ice.
- Butcher led d-men with 21:53. BUTCHER!
- Carrick even had 19:41. Carrick is more error prone than Damon but I'm beginning to see Sevo's toolset outweigh the giveaways. I still like that Carrick gets the puck through but just bear down a little monkey boy
- Rooney lacks skill. Lappin lacks skill. Agostino has heart but you guessed it...no skill. Pietila lacks sk... He bad.
- Zajac is the most neutral player ever right now.
- Stafford is actually smart but he's too slow. He has skill.
- McLeod's game is definitely getting better. He would turn the puck over within .5 seconds but faceplanting or losing control of the puck, and now he's either moving the play along or losing it after 5 seconds. He's 10x better. Seriously, I'm glad he's getting this look.
- Santini is now THINKING the game slow. I know he was never the fastest guy, but he was always good with outlets and decisions. That seems to be declining.
- Jesper - it is a joy to watch Jesper play hockey.a

Amazing this was not a blow-out...Also, Chara is a shell of himself- almost feel bad.

I don't.

I enjoyed seeing Bratt turn him into a 6'9" CONE.

Wish Bratt could've converted there....Would've been the Goal of the Game.

I honestly think Jesper is more talented. I'm not saying he is a better player, and if you have to choose, you choose Nico, but I think Jesper has more raw skill.

And I don't mean that in a bad way. I agree they are top end talents, and not just on this team. Just clarifying that I know saying you look really talented relative to the rest of the team right now really isn't saying much

Not with the club we iced.

Rooney looks like an NHL player. 3d or 4th line for sure. Maybe more, can he develop into Coleman? But anyway a consistent player at this level.

Skates well enough. Pays good attention defensively. Decent on face offs. Good physical game. Has size. Maybe even above average hands, at least not bad. Size + Skating + Physical Game + Relative Youth = Nothing Wrong with That

Well yeah in that case you are right. This is a a frightfully depleted roster. Why harping on this lose is silly. What more can you expect from this lineup against a playoff bound Bruins team?

Maybe if we are just talking pure offensive skill I put Bratt higher? Kid does have silky hands and amazing vision. I think being a strong defensive player is also a skill so I think Nico’s total package keeps him ahead of Bratt.

I'm still not sure how good he is yet, but he's clearly the best goalie in the organization. It's just a question of by how much and not ''if'', at this point.

He's still been better on this year as a whole (I know he's only played 2 games since the call up) as the post-injury Cory and he's been better than anything we've seen from Kinkaid since October.

Every game he plays just annoys me at how incredibly terrible goaltending has been all year for this team and how it sent this team off the cliff while the roster was still good enough to compete. It clearly is not good enough to compete at this time.

And tonight's defense (as well as Wednesday night's against the Flames) was worse than anything Kinkaid his .891% had to play behind pretty much all year long. This is why I've spent hours arguing just how murderous the Schneidkaid tandem was the first several months of the season and how non-NHL caliber Kinkaid has played ever since the first Blackwood call up in December.

Our team save percentage is actually higher than either of the other two goalies individual save percentages this year, thanks to #29. That's how bad they've been and how good he's been.

There's no way in hell Rooney is a 3rd line player at the NHL level.

4th line? I don't think so, but I don't feel the need to argue all night over something so trivial like that.

He's as much of a 3rd liner as Sergei Kalinin or Jacob Josefson were when they were here.

Kowalsky (sp?) has to go.
Assuming he coaches the 3 on 3 (most teams are set up that they have their PP coach run the 3 on 3), I think he has to go because of that even more than the power play. Our shot differential in OT this year is hilariously bad. Even in the last OT win, we hung on for dear life and scored on the first shot we had and because Dubnyk gave us a Valentine's Day gift. And because we're clearly a worse team at it this year than any year before he got here.

I use 3d and 4th interchangeably. What I mean is, he’s an NHL player from now. Watch and see. Revisit next season. The kid has the skills and has been one guy making the most of his opportunity.

And 4th lines are important if the coach rolls them.

Boston’s 4th line has been driving play all season for example. Very physical aggressive forecheck, 2 men in deep very fast on top of the opposition.

I would say Rooney does anything but drive play.

Agostino is the only guy in tonight's lineup on forward (not counting, Nico, Bratt, Coleman, Zajac) that I'd want on the 4th line of a team that expects to make the playoffs.

That includes whatever is left of Stafford's bone dust after it got knocked over and the cat mistook it for its litter box.

I remember when he had the interview 14 games into the season. He talked about how it was too early to judge the state of team, that there were still so many games left to play.

I wonder what he thinks now...

Who the hell else was he supposed to play with? This was Binghamton's A team playing the Boston friggin Bruins last night. Your shtick is intolerable man.

I forgot to mention this last night, but it would be nice if someone took Marchand out. I hate that guy so much. Trying to injure a guy in the final few seconds of an ultimately meaningless game that you had wrapped up is so freaking stupid.

vats went down like he was shot. he was motionless on the ice for 3-5 seconds, which should’ve been a dead giveaway that he embellished...he wasn’t knocked out cold or anything. the cross check should’ve been called, but that didn’t warrant anything further in terms of a suspension, and i don’t think he was trying to injure him. vats made that seems a million times worse than it really was
