Nico made some nice skating plays with the puck in very limited space, stopping and starting, wheeling and breaking away from defenders, digging in his edges, but he had no options. The isles did a fine job of not leaving the other guys free. But all that was before Nelson's power play goal.

I really thought the game became different, turned after that Nelson go ahead goal. The isles just took over. Maybe it wasn't that we fell apart so much as that the Isles found a different groove.
yeah I think the Isles watched the tape of our last game and said "enough is enough"

Super disheartening because it just seems if other teams are on, we are going to lose at a minimum and get blown out too often. Our best chance is not playing our best but hoping the other team doesn't have their best.

Anyway, 71 might be new, but he's worse than I thought he would be. To this point, I was totally wrong about him. I thought he would be a decent defensive defender.

Blackwood gives up a meh goal seconds after getting run into.

But we’ll play him until the wheels fall off because getting blown out with an injured Blackwood is better than getting blown out with the AHL clowns.

I do not agree with how Ruff managed Blackwood down the stretch.

Biggest black mark on his first year.

Hate to single out Bratt but he could have skated a little harder to get his stock on Eberle for the 1st goal!:thumbu: Oh well.

I see no reason to sweat them having an off night.

Yup, NYI looked on a mission from the get go, especially Palmieri and Zajac. I get it, they're embarrassed at how they've played since the trade and wanted to prove it against their old team. It would have been nice to see more pushback from NJ, but it is what it is, it's certainly not going to impact anything next season.

I don’t agree with how the organization has managed him in the last 15 months or so.

First of all, the BS last year. Didn’t it come out that we played him with a concussion, but they didn’t know it was a concussion until after the fact? I forgot what the story was, but that was in January of 2020 and I’m pretty sure Shero was still the GM at the time, but he was fired a week later. Maybe that was in February of 2020 after Shero was gone though?

Then this year seemed to be one fiasco after another. He was apparently dealing with something back in early March or maybe late February. I forget exactly when. It was actually mid-March around the first time we played the Pens. I think both he and Ruff came out and said he was dealing with something. His play seemed to take a drastic dive around this time.

Then he gets run over in the Rangers game. Appeared to be alright and in the starters net for the morning skate the next game, but is a late scratch. We proceed to get blown up two games in a row in Pittsburgh with Wedgewood and Dell. Then he’s magically healed after those two beatings and playing two nights in a row. It’s almost like they’d rather us get blown out with an injured Blackwood in net than with Dell or Wedgewood in net.

Then Ruff comes out and says he’ll play most of the remainder of the games. He gets run into tonight by Palmieri on his goal. Is visibly shaken up. Decides not to leave the game and gets scored on a few seconds later.

We can say they're overplaying Blackwood at different points and tonight in the third period was awful, but let's be honest it's not as if he's played a lot, relatively speaking in his three years as a pro. His most GP as a pro so far is 47 last year. He's played 34 out of 55 games this year. If he's going to be our unquestioned number one going forward, that GP number's gotta start with no less than a 5 (if not a 6) going forward when we get back to 82-game seasons.

If we are on, we can beat a depleted Isles lineup by one. That's good. When we are off and they are closer to full strength we get blown out. That is disheartening.

lol what the devils aren't playing full strength either in either games and the only regulars missing for the Islanders on thursday were Eberle, Greene, and Komarov.

prove me wrong, once this organization stops collecting scrap heap players from other teams we’ll be better off. There’s a reason Siegentahler wasn’t a regular for Washington, it’s because he sucks
lol yeah, he sucks so bad he played 64 games for them in 2019-20. It's not like they signed some dude named Chara or something...

Also, judging a kid off 7 games, 1 where he just came back from Covid, it's beyond stupid. Stick to Twitter.

Which one of Carlson, Orlov, Schultz, Dillon, Chara, or Jensen do you think Washington was going to sit for him?

He was injured for a few games this season (I don't count COVID in this obviously), but 34 starts this year is about 51 starts in a full season, if he gets a little more injury luck, I could see that number going to 60-ish next season. With that being said, I totally expect us to get a good backup for him during the off-season.

Timing has been pretty bad with Mac, as he started as a backup in 2018-2019, and played in the 2 "COVID" seasons as a backup, which was indeed bad timing. As the next 2 seasons go on, I expect him to get a "regular" work load.

Nevermind he was still experiencing Covid issues a couple weeks after play resumed and kept getting played like normal.

To what end though? He still isn't scoring enough to be a top nine guy and he doesn't have enough ancilary skills to be anything other than a fill-in fourth liner.

This is where boxcar numbers fool people. Boqvist is 7th on the team in points/60 for forwards and is 191st in the league in points/60 among forwards with 100 or more minutes. He's scored just fine. He just hasn't played any minutes really at all. But Ruff is starting to trust him more.

Watched the game (I recorded it though I wish I hadn't).

Then I read through this game thread and also wish I hadn't because HersheyBob and Kiekko were up to their usual BS regarding Bratt.

Oh no!!! He gave up a TWO-on-TWO Breakaway that is normally snuffed out if our D-Men actually defended!! THE HUMANITY!! :scared::scared:

Give me an f'n break....

And for whomever gave the excuse that we had 3rd-Pairing D-men just to deflect blame back on Bratt?

Sorry pal, but that is pathetic.

It would have been one thing if it was a 2-on-1 but it wasn't.

The D-Men defending, had a job to do.

They* failed, their fault, THE END.

(*Note : Would I have liked Bratt to have hit the net? Sure but how many times have we seen some of our other players not hit the net with the puck going the other way but no goal is the result because our D-MEN DID THEIR JOBS??)
