I could care less about the song but I do find it funny that the devil's won't do rock and roll part 2 for obvious reasons but they are ok with possibly having a song where one of the band members evaded police on a 10 block joy ride and had to draw their weapons on him. I guess since they are from new jersey it's ok.

Not even remotely the same. False equivalences are ridiculous.

Jesus christ, man. Gary Glitter went to Cambodia and Vietnam and was accused of sex crimes there. This is a person who has preyed on children for what appears to be his entire life. And you're going to blame someone's parents for this guy's actions?

Not at all - The guy is prison for the rest of his life, and demonized everywhere - and that is all that matters to me.

I'd like to think Glitter's royalties go to a victim's fund or he's got a hefty civil judgment against him by the victims. If so, it would be a shame if the victims of this sort of crime couldn't recover anything because of a boycott. We don't have the facts other than the bad ones.

Okay, maybe I'll change my position:
In 2014, Billboard reported that "Rock and Roll Part 2", co-written by Glitter with Mike Leander, was earning an estimated $250,000 a year in royalties due to its use in the NHL.

This is f*d up as well:
Gary Glitter has reportedly earned £1m worth of royalties from the Oasis track Hello which uses a sample of his lyrics. According to the Sun, the ...

btw... WHAT Lyrics?! 'hey'?

This fanbase needs to get over that RR part 2 not being the goal song. It’s been long enough that it’s bordering on obsessive and unhealthy how people are still pissed about it

Idk about everyone, but I go to bed every night listening to compilations of our 2012 playoff goals so I can hear RR part 2 that's how obsessed I am with it :sarcasm:

They aren't close at all obviously. I just find it funny that they still decided on a song from a band that has had issues despite trying to be family friendly all these years. Again one is not even close to the other.

It all goes back to our Mickey Mouse inferiority complex. We don't want to be lame when shown on national highlights packages.

Yeah, this is what is driving the goal song discussion. You know, those classic national highlights packages we all watch and we're always picking out the songs teams play and what the crowd is saying.

Jesus Christ can we start a nonsensical goal song thread already? Who gives a flying **** what they play when they score a goal.
Or at least move it to the Entertainment thread. We know this from experience: the debate will never end.

People will never agree on music. It's "this song sucks, no that songs sucks" over and over. It's like 70% of the posts on this supposed team discussion thread.

Actually I'm just a rebel. If the "powers that be" don't want something because they allegedly know best then generally speaking I do want it out of principle. The song itself is irrelevant.

Will there be anyone left to admire if we cancel everyone that flew to Vietnam and Cambodia to commit sex crimes against children? It’s a slippery slope. A single tear falls down my cheek as I stare up at the confederate flag in my New Jersey apartment as Ted Nugent plays softly in the background.

Retributive justice is just wonky and all the rage these days.

I'm pretty sure at some point I'm going to have to give my house to a Native American , my kids will have serve as slaves, and I'll be extradited to Italy because Columbus was such a bad guy.

If the guy was making money because of his pedophilia, and the song was about pedophilia, and the video was made using child porn - then, duh, of course it should be banned everywhere.

If we start down this path, we could pretty much rub every person out of every sports Hall of Fame, burn all books, and eliminate 95% of the songs on iTunes for some infraction or another.

Here's a question: Are we also eliminating all Woody Allen movies and all Michael Jackson from radio and streaming services, or is it just easier to eliminate the clown with one song?
Excellent perspective.

Leave the entertainment thread out of this crazy debate. What did it ever do to you?

Can we please steer this thread back to the Devils and not the goal song? I really don't care what song they play and would like to discuss the actual team in here.

I did enjoy that one guy comparing pedophilia to running from the police though

...as you sip water from your plastic bottle wearing clothes in Cambodian sweatshops while destroying the environment by your coal-powered stereo contemplating taking a single airline flight that will make your yearly carbon footprint larger than that of the population of a small African country. Don't worry, our generation's vilification will come.

Did you write this on a cell phone or eat genetically modified corn? Don't worry then, you'll be dead of cancer before you have to listen to it.

One thing to keep in mind here is that Nashville was also using it at the time i believe.

Nashville got around it but that fan base has all kinds of chants, they acutally added a song that allows for a "You Suck" chant and no one seems to care about them.

So.... are you guys trying to decide between Howl and HHH still? I can't tell anymore.
