What's the story with Taylor Hall and his injury? Asking for a friend of mine. He's convinced ownership is keeping him out of the lineup in a veiled attempt to tank.

nagging groin injury, something he could play through but what's the point in this season. Probably will play final 15 games or so if he plays at all this year.

Actually that doesn’t really help your case since the three guys above Santini all have vastly tougher matchups on a nightly basis. All the third pairing guys are on the bottom for a reason and Santini has the worst goal ratio of them.

Yes, you absolutely do need to take this into account.

For instance, you'd expect Vatanen to get "punished" a bit for going against the top lines, and you can see Butcher comes off pretty bad given he's "the boy in the protected bubble". Also, Mueller comes off looking great as best on the team given he's spent a decent chunk of time with Vats against #1 lines.

That said, with a full body of work & a large N-set at this point in the season, the statistic is entirely valid. It also passes the eye test frankly, Mueller & Lovejoy have generally been fairly solid, Severson poor, and Greene is having the worst season of his career.

Thank you. He's gone full on conspiracy theorist with the Hall situation and sending Blackwood back down.

I've really liked how Mueller has looked in his own end. Seems very confident, vocal, directing the defense, being a leader out there.

I think he has offensive skills, and on the rush his skating is apparent and that should be more of a weapon, even in the offensive zone I think he has looked ok.

But he has to figure out how to move the puck constructively on simple breakouts. I find it a very odd, but glaring issue.

Both situations are better long term, with what keith got against the Blues it's really not in Blackwoods best interest to see 50 shots against nhl teams this year. Better to have Hall not play a single game with any sort of injury either, just being smart about it and I'm pretty sure they have said these things to the public.

Wait, are you sure that was after last night's game? I swear I've seen this picture before. I think it was either on the way to Europe earlier this year or two years ago. I think the story was that the Devils plane was on the tarmac for hours because of a mechanical issue, then they had to eventually wait for another plane to get there to take them because the initial plane was too damaged to safely fly with. So they were grounded for hours on the plane. I even remember picture of Henrique (I think?) and someone else eating a bag of popcorn.

I think this picture is either from that day or on the trip to Europe this year. Think it was when the plane was grounded, as him laying out on the floor while the flight was grounded would make sense.

If this is true, Shame on @Scottyk9 for this FAKE NEWS! :thumbd:

With the team in its current state

Nobody is off-limits but Hischier.

Eh.

Not giving up on Bratt. @Nubmer6 @Scooooooooooooot

He has too much talent and potential at just age 20 to simply deal him away.

Regardless, the deal would have to be pretty damn good to just give up a 20-year-old talent from the 6th round of the draft(something that comes around every blue moon).

Oh and I hope Hall re-signs.

But everyone else(aside from Hischier as well) CAN GO JUMP OFF AN F'N CLIFF for all I care.

People just look at his adv stats.
Advanced stats are a better argument than “he clears the crease” or whatever nonsense is used in his defense. We don’t get good results when he’s on the ice. Using conventional stats, using advanced stats, using your eyes.

I'm not trading Bratt unless its for a young D who can play top pair and I doubt that scenario happens. Boqvist I'm also not trading until we see him playing hockey in North America, kid has immense talent and is having a great year in the SHL. Ty Smith, Blackwood, Nico are all untouchable as is Hall if he extends. Palms I would prefer not to trade, but he's not 100% untouchable depending on the package. He would be very hard to replace since he's likely the only pure scorer on this team at this point, so it has to be to a team making a run who is trying to ship out a great young prospect and picks.

bratt should not be off limits for a trade in any way. he’s one of our more valuable assets, and if we have to trade him in a package for an upgrade at C or, preferably, for a top pairing defenseman, so be it

Palms will be a Ryder in a few years when his body starts breaking down.
One tick pony, his shot.
That is why his contract is perfect. The Devils will have him during his prime producing years and someone else can overpay him while he is declining. The player I am most worried about declining is Hall if we resign him. A lot worse having a declining player sitting in the press box making $11 million than Palms in 2 years at $4.65.

I mean nobody should be off-limits for the right price, but Bratt is one of the pieces I'd prefer to keep. I don't really want to trade him for an older player (like Duchene in a sign and trade), and I don't think he would hold enough value in other GM's eyes to be the centerpiece for a young Dman like Hanifin. Really the only potential trades where I'd be ok trading Bratt would likely never happen, for example Bratt for Kotkaniemi or something like Bratt+ for Hanifin.

Santini is terrible, worse than Lovejoy, and barely an NHL player. Severson is actually a capable NHL player and has been since day 1. “His defensive game is flawed” - Great, so is Santini’s. But he provides excellent offense, Santini provides zero. Santini is 1 year younger than Severson and is not even an average number 6 dman. Stop comparing him to Severson.

When did Santini get a decent chance to succeed?

Playing 2 games every 15 games sure wont help him. Throwing him to the wolves last year on the first pair with Greene sure isn't one also.

Greene is supposedly negatively affecting Severson on the second pair but Santini simply sucks although he played against top competition with Greene as his partner on the first pair last year

I mean which one is it?

Point is he never got the chance to play on a consistent basis, never got a fair chance to learn from his mistakes, never got the chance to adapt.

Santini's results with almost everyone are terrible; that's the difference. He's the only guy whose results are worse away from Greene. He gets bad results. The reason he doesn't get a chance to play on a consistent basis is because he's bad. Now should they have realized this much earlier last season? Yes, but they may have felt they had no choice.

That being said, he should get the rest of the games this season.

Will Severson lead our team in +/- for the third or fourth year in a row?

And when I mean lead, I mean last

Severson actually wasnt dead last for once last year, he was +1 ahead of Greene.

Of course, Greene also played an entire season against #1 lines, so there is that, LOL

This is just pure nonsense. Santini had a negative impact on Andy Greene when the were together. Yes, you heard that right. Old, washed up Andy Greene was being dragged down by Santini. That is not the case with Severson. Greene is clearly dragging down Severson by most metrics.

These are not players that should be compared. It’s like comparing Drew Stafford and Kyle Palmieri. Stop it.

Yep. They shouldn't be compared. Severson has a 3.0 BHP/60 (boneheaded play)

Santini's fault:
