He has no glove hand and is like 5 feet tall but he has gigantic balls. He'll be their backup next year when Reimer is gone.

So happy for him to secure that money for
Two years: good security for a stellar player

Alex Lyon was the reason the Panthers got back into the playoff picture.

Lyon is good enough for a backup role.

Think they'll wait it out and send him on a condition stint in GR when he's eligible before he plays for the Wings this season?

I think a conditioning stint is very likely. They're probably waiting out the Vasilevskiy situation. There must be something they have their eye on, and that's the main one that stands out.

30 year old for the AHL to groom for a backup NHL role in a year or two? Makes no sense?

Makes no sense.

Not the norm but not uncommon either. Off the top of my head recently recall Khudobin and Schneider playing in the AHL well into their 30's and serving as mentors - with the former backstopping Dallas on their memorable playoff run in the bubble.

The Flyers are also carrying three goalies with Sandstrom yet to play a second.

I expect most of the 3 goalie teams will be down to 2 in about a month-month and a half. Reality is most of them would go unclaimed anyhow.

I assume a lot of this is just cap shenanigans where somehow 39 cents here are there saves them 2 million at the deadline
