Any chance we can thank Perlini and his inability to play NHL hockey?
I'm not denying Perlini just might be bad but Blashill putting him in a role destined to fail is beyond stupid imo. Yes, lets put one of the best 4th line centers in the game and stick him on the 2nd line wing and lets put a non checker Perlini in a 4th line checking role. Perfect Blashill strategy. When the team is having this kind of season where wins don't matter and development takes precedent, it sure begs the question on why the hell Blashill refuses to try things like putting Perlini on a scoring line instead of going the safe route with players like Glendening and Helm in the top 6.

Perlini isn't a good player... He has little to no grit, or sence of urgency. If playing on a last place team, potentially watching your NHL career slip away isn't enough to motivate you to do something.. You just don't have it.

Seems to be aging well for Chicago currently.

Blackhawks prospect named OHL defenseman of month

Also from the article:

Regula, who serves as co-captain for the Knights, leads all OHL defenders in goals (26) and ranks sixth in points (57) across 53 games this season.

Perlini probably out of the NHL within a year. 1G, 3A in 38 games with the wings. Sad the guy can never put together a complete effort

Not a huge deal for Wings in grand scheme but this was def a bust for them. Great deal for Chicago if Regula becomes an even remotely serviceable bottom pair D.

Good luck w Regula. Hes a career best 4-7th dman on a good team, wont amount to much. Yzerman took a chance on a former 1st rd draft pic for him. Remember, Yzerman is better than Stan in every category (minus the cup tallon won him) and won this trade. Perlini will stay with DRW, under a new coach, could find spark in a top 9 role, not in a role where Blashill buires talent for grinders. #babcockstyle

I really liked Regula in his draft year and hoped my team (Coyotes) would pick him. I was surprised Perlini (a player I got to watch closely as a Yotes fan) returned a prospect of his caliber.

So outside of the cup Tallon won him, what about the other two?

I remember watching Perlini and Ho-Sang in Niagara. The guy was a great player, very dominant when he wanted to be, but that was his problem. He just didn't seem motivated.

Guys like Vince Dunn and Josh Ho-Sang were literally everywhere driving the play up the ice. Perlini just seemed *there* as if he had a right to be.

Lol.... At this point, the odds of Regula playing in the NHL in a few years, are probably just as good as Perlini's. I personally think Perlini goes back to Europe within the next two years.

back? When was he ever played in a European league?

he just needs a chance to play. He has shown some great offensive spurts but never keeps the coaches confidence long enough to sustain any results.

Even if Regula becomes nothing, this trade is a win for Chicago in that they got to remove Perlini from their lineup. Low ice time or not, Perlini does nothing at all, other than every 4th or 5th game he gets off a weak shot from just outside the slot that misses the net. Can't think of any other redeeming quality he brings!

Work Ethic? Nope!
Skating? Not really!
Defence? HAHAHA!
Offence? See 1 goal in over 40 games!
Forechecking? No Again!
Backchecking? See Defence!

You obviously haven't seen the 2019-2020 Perlini if you think he just needs a chance or has offensive spurts!

the one redeeming quality of having Perlini was his super fan on r/hawks. Perlini was such a meme for us last year

Didn't he come up through the English development stream? As did his brother.

Yzerman has won jack all, and definitely did not win this trade. Regula even if he is an AHL/NHL tweener makes this trade a wash. But still, Hawks could trade Regula for another promising prospect or pick and then hit on that one, he is still an asset at the end of the day, can't say the same for Perlini.
