I’ll take it. We pick up a little extra draft capital and free up some cap space. Good luck in Denver, Teddy.
We’re still saving $6 million for this season.$17 million in dead cap for bridgewater for carolina is a crap load.
They had the largest dead cap last season, and continue the trend this season
We’re still saving $6 million for this season.
We never should have signed him to that contract in the first place.
it just seems that Carolina loves dead cap space.
I agree with you they just need to get out of that toxic trend.
Yes they save 6 but still take on 17
Looking at it that way is a dangerous way to fall for the sunk cost fallacy. No matter if they kept Bridgewater or let him go, they had to pay that 17 millions anyways. What they had to decide is whether he was worth to pay 6 more million for this year or not (Well, it's surely more complicated than that, but still).
Most of the time, the problem with team who have a lot of dead cap space (Like Carolina) is that they give too much money to players, not that they parted way with those players.
If Paton is smart he'll trade Lock for a day 2 or day 3 pick and still trade up to 6/7 to take Fields/Lance, or risk it and wait until 9 and take whoever is left.
Lock isn't the long-term answer. Bridgewater should be good as a veteran stopgap for a year to bridge a long-term answer like Fields or Lance.
And also getting very little. This is an L for both teams
Denver plays their hand at the draft
Carolina takes on $17 million in dead cap
The only good news for denver is an Out after this season with $0 in dead cap space
so Denver is paying very little for their backup
And also getting very little.
That is fair.i mean you could have worse situation is when you are paying a ton of money for a QB and not getting anything
Lock and Bridgewater combined is less than 4.7 Million this year
I think at the very least they have flexibility which is good to have
He wasn’t that bad in Carolina last year…
