Rob Zepp will be fine as a backup and may even outplay Emery when given the chance.
He has been tested a lot while playing behind a pretty questionable team Germany in the past and he got so much experience.

no one's asking you to celebrate it. but (assuming Mason's injury isn't a long term issue) there's nothing wrong with thinking ahead and realizing that this injury likely means a higher pick in the draft, which is better for the team's future than finishing 9th or 10th, which was where they were headed.

Thinking ahead, this could be bad if it is more than spasms.

apparently it now takes 4 days for the Flyers medical staff to figure out an injury. :help:

Steve Mason is actually an apple product and they're having trouble keeping him from dying after 4 hours following his most recent software update. I knew they should have signed an android goalie. While they do make a living glorifying minisculey enhanced technology they only posess because of apple goalies, they're so much more customizable and less mainstream... they also have better cameras and were doing the totally revolutionary 'big screen' technique long before those elitists at the apple goalie academy... Stay tuned for more updates.

The longer it takes to announce the worst I think it is. They might be trying to figure out to the fullest extent of the injury. I could be wrong though. Been wrong before and will be again!

Mason is currently on injured reserve, that could be cap related but he wasn't designated on IR for Sunday night's game.

The reason for the change is that the doctor/specialist was unavailable yesterday. The update is scheduled for today. Flyers next play December 27.

RT @frank_seravalli: Ron Hextall said the hope is Steve Mason can skate in Nashville. He'll be with team when trip resumes. Rules out for that game though.

RT @frank_seravalli: Hextall said there's no finite answer for when Mason returns, but doesn't believe it to be "that serious." He's undergone battery of tests.

Guessing that Mason won't play for another week or so.

So I guess it was back spasms. Even if it costs up a top 10 pick, I'm glad it''s nothing serious.

Even if he had the rest of the year off and Emery and Zepp split the next four games that wouldn't be that bad.

I'm pretty sure they are going to lose hard in Nashville, and Emery or Zepp will play that game.

Toronto and Winnipeg have their issues, but they are tied for 14th in the league.
