As a Blues fan I sympathize with you on this hire.
Maybe he’s better as an assistant coach. He seemed too much of an X and O coach and not a leader. Also we had a young team and didn’t seem to work with the young players well. But who knows maybe I am completely off on that. What can you tell us?

Our other coaches are both. Supposed to be good with kids. We need an x and o guy.Maybe he’s better as an assistant coach. He seemed too much of an X and O coach and not a leader. Payne is a PP guy as runs the forwards. I assume that's what he'll continue to do here.DJ said he wanted someone who could run a powerplay .. Is Payne that guy?
I really think more than a PP specialist we need a breakout specialist .. that can cut down on the icing , or the 2 minutes of running around followed by a desperate exit that allows for a change ; rince repeat... Our Dzone has been horrible. So much of the game comes from there. Powerplays are usually more abundant when you play in the other team's end.

Agree 100% about breakout specialists. Zone entries too (both defending and attacking).
