I like Yandle but I think he would get a great return and I think Rundblad can fill his spot. But I don't know about Kadri..havn't heard anything that great about him outside of leafs nation. Is Kadri = Boedker in skill?

Please, he CERTAINLY hasn't shown he could even come close to replacing Yandle. Unless you believe the folklore?

Maybe not right away but I say give him two solid season and he would be just as good as Yandle.

I think I remember people saying Yandle sucked when he first started but now he is good.

That and I watch him play. He's not at the same level today but has higher upside than Yandle. I've made numerous posts on matter over last couple seasons.

If you think Yandle is part of a core you can win with then you refuse to move him. If you think the assets you can acquire puts you in a better position to help you win then you go that way. At various points this year I understood the former argument. Today I'm interested in potential return.

In past, Maloney has been involved in Yandle discussions in deals for JVR, Gagner+, and J Staal. I don't view him as untouchable as some.

What folklore? The folklore coming from Dave Tippet that David Schlemko is more effective? Look at our GA this year, now that's folklore.

Seems like a stretch to me. Keith Yandle had a 40 point season at Rundblad's current age. I'm not gonna outright call Rundblad a bust but I don't think his ceiling is higher than Yandle's at all. Rundblad could replace Yandle, but the hope in such a decision for me would be cheaper and almost as good.

That's why only fools make trades based on small sample sizes.

Couldn't it also be argued that Yandle's best games this year have been a small sample size?

He's had a handful of really good games, a handful of really bad, and a whole lot of average games.

I like Yandle. I just wonder if the assets we would receive in return would be better going forward.

No secret I'm a believer in Rundblad. I've long maintained he is one of the most skilled players in the organization. He just can't co-exist in same lineup with Yandle. One has to go. To move Rundblad would be to sell low. Moving Yandle would be to sell high.

And there you have it. Nobody seems to want him. Third team now and not much value. Why is that?

Rundblad was dealt bc of dev time required to get def game up to speed. Of course Yandle's -18 isn't exactly setting a high standard for him to beat.

I'm on board with HBK on this. I'm not outright saying, "TRADE YANDLE TOMORROW!" but at the same time it would be interesting to see what kind of return he could yield and if it would make the team better in the long term. If you keep him off the table entirely you won't hear what kind of offers he may get. If you throw it out there that he could be available for the right price you might just hear that right price or better.

I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this, but I have new insight into the conditioning stint for Rundblad. By the trade deadline one of two things appears to be likely, either Rundblad will be traded or another defenseman on the team is likely to be traded. In either case it benefits both Runblad and the Coyotes if he's been playing some quality minutes in the AHL and is ready to step into the lineup next week, wherever that may be. By contrast if he had been sitting around the past two weeks and then was expected to jump in the lineup next week he'd have a little extra rust since he's played so little this season. Also, it likely makes Rundblad look more attractive in a trade because it shows that he's not injured and he's not rusty.

Who said Yandle's off the table? Everything is for sale at the right price. The question was: who's going to take his place? I don't believe the answer is Rundblad.

First off, he play's the other side. To which one might say: shore up the left with Gormley (or an NHL calibre defenseman) and put the gunslinger on the right in Runblad. My point is either way; Rundblad has not shown an inkling of the prowess of Yandle and has been passed around for a reason.

Makes no sense to take a step forward on the front end, only to take one back on the back end. GMDM seems to understand this and being this is the "Rundblad" thread, I'd be shocked if he'd implement Rundblad as a Yandle replacement.

Correct, trouble is he's done NOTHING at the NHL level and to think three teams have passed due to impatience with development is ludicrous.

He s only had a very limted num of games @this level, and rlly no consistent stretch. Anf he s playing in a system that is vry unfavorable to his stylr and skill set. I domt think its fiar to evaluate him in that light yet.

Speaking of small sample sizes...

You should consult your personal crystal ball again and tell us if Rundblad will play more than 14 games over two seasons for the Coyotes. He was traded for Tarasenko and Turris. He scored the 2nd most points by a D in SEL history. HBK isn't crazy. What is crazy is playing him once a month and then complaining when he doesn't look good on the bottom pairing of a team that can't find its own ass most nights.

The whole situation is embarrassing for the organization. None of it has anything to do with the kid that put in a damn good AHL season, "made the team", and then never complained when he got less time than Biz.

No. Considering he's still young, you look at what he's done over the past 4-5 years when you make a decision to trade him and what his value should be, not a few months here and there (good or bad).

I know many people think Rundblad projects to be Yandle one day but man I don't know, his skating looks very awkward to me. Like most offensive dmen Yandle is a gambler but his skating bails him out of trouble a lot. I can see Rundblad being similar in the gambling aspect but he doesn't have the skating to save him self. I worry that Rundblad is more of a PP specialist and that's it. Even if that's not the case and Rundblad does develop to Yandle's level, I still think best case scenario he might be there in a couple of years. Anyone thinking he could just step in and replace Yandle without missing a beat is being foolish IMO.

No one has really suggested that. It's more that there isn't room for two offensive D on the same team, much less a Tippett coached team. If Don is going to explore a Yandle trade it would help to know what Rundblad is or can be. He hasn't gotten a shot here so it's hard to say.

Selling low on Rundblad doesn't make much sense. It'd be like trading Gormley right now before we even know what he is capable of at the NHL level.

XX summed it up nicely.

It won't be seamless but this organization is better suited to replace the departure of Yandle than it has at providing a legitimate top6 forward group. Heck, if Gardiner is in a package I can envision Maloney dealing them both (separate deals).

In our prospect pool, only Domi sticks out as someone who can play in our top 6 (protected role). Samuellson looks better suited to 3rd line. Gaudet is an ideal 3rd line C. Brown is a 3rd liner. Lessio's skating is top 6 but his hands are?

The question is does this franchise consider Yandlle to be a core player. If we do we keep him.

I believe Yandle is a core player for the Yotes, but that makes him all the more attractive for other teams. Just because he is a core player doesn't mean me keep him.
