And Lucas still hates him. Never understood why
Blew a bunch of spoilers every time he opened his mouth from 1978 onward. That, and apparently he was a bitch to work with for contracts and merchandising. Just what I heard.

Also deserves a mention for Clockwork Orange.

I saw a documentary on DP sometime back, and felt badly for him.

They did delve into why he was essentially banned from all Lucas sanctioned Star Wars events, but never got Lucas side of why he wouldn’t forgive and forget.

Apparently DP did all the dialogue from Star Wars during filming and didn’t know there would be a voice over in post-production.

That obviously made DP angry as he felt he was lied to about his role... but seeing the actual footage of him speaking vs JEJ was pretty stunning.

Lucas also promised to finally show DP face at the end of ROJ, then apparently stabbed him in the back and used Sebastian Shaw instead.

DP also mentioned he got zero residuals from the ROJ because he had been notified the movie wasn’t profitable.

Here is an article explaining how they screwed him:

Pretty incredible he made it to such a late age as a bodybuilder. It's worth noting he wasn't in the suit for the lightsaber fights in Empire and Jedi. That was Bob Anderson. The drama is always a fun read though. There's no shortage of that at any point in the history of that franchise.

Glad he made it to such an old age. His stature and movement combined with JEJ's voice is what really sold Vader as a powerful villain from the first scene on.
