DOMINANT. Could easily have 23 points. I do tremble a little at some of his blind passes.

What's wild is he turns 22 in a few weeks. So although his hands may or may not get noticeably better, we know for certain that his size, strength, maturity, decision making, hockey IQ and determination will. That's scary.

It's basically a race to see how much of Bergy can rub off on him before Bergy hangs them up. I don't think Bergeron will play out his whole contract, although I'd looooove him to.

You know, I remember the draft, but not the reason WHY Pasta went so far as #25. What was the supposed problem with him, to fall so low?

Clearly a top three or top five pick in a do-over. Not even a question.

He'd be a #1 pick in many drafts if they had a crystal ball.

I'll predict a top of 108 points one of these years.

I could be wrong, and if someone who followed that draft a lot closely than I did can chime that would be great. At the time, I even saw mock drafts with him in the top 10, but I think the biggest reason why he dropped was because of teams being weary of his injury history at his age (concussion). There was also his size at the time and lack of defensive ability, but I would assume the concussion he suffered was the biggest reason.

Pastrnak leads all players with 17 points in the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs and is one of 13 different players in NHL history to record 17+ points through his team's first eight games of a postseason. The last to do so was Mario Lemieux with the Penguins in 1992 (19 points), while Wayne Gretzky holds the record of 22 points through eight games (achieved in 1983 and 1985).

Malkin’s 36 point playoff run in ‘09 was the best I’ve ever seen in my time watching hockey and it looks like Pastrnak is trying to pass that record. I remember watching Malkin in awe, even Savard was never that dominant. Now we have Pastrnak taking over offensively in a similar way.

Hot Take:

David Pastrnak is the most SKILLED Bruin to ever wear black and gold. The franchise has never dressed a more naturally gifted puck handler.

I really hope you are not serious. The most SKILLED Bruin to ever wear the black and gold, and maybe the single most SKILLED human to ever play the game, is enshrined in bronze outside TD Garden.

Second Hot take:

If Pastrnak can play with 75% of Bergeron's heart, and 75% of Bourque's hockey IQ, he will go to the HOF as one of the greatest Bruins ever. Those are big ifs obviously.

Man thank God Chia drafted this kid.

Don't get me wrong, I love Pasta and appreciate and share your enthusiasm. But your first Hot Take is maybe a bit overstated.

"one of" I can get behind. "the most" I cannot buy.

Unfortunately David had a very bad game last night. Those drop passes to no one had me cringing. I'm sure he'll rebound tomorrow.

Sometimes you just want to choke him! Then he turns around does something jaw-dropping. He'll be beast at 25 when he has learned better about when/where to try for the dangle or the fancy move and when to not.

wrong. several people were grousing about him at one point and discussed trading him for assets. go back and look.

Yes I have no doubt a few people wanted to deal him. Maybe a few dislike his style, and I do think at one point there were concerns he could be resigned.

But I think it was always few not many

I love Pasta, too. A lot. But, Rick Middleton had a lot of sweet moves, as well. Different player; different era; different game back then, but he was a similar "money" player.

Yeah, he's still very young and it shows. He makes a couple of mind-boggling decisions every game, but it's part of him growing his confidence and learning the pace of the playoffs. A few years ago, the mistakes he made were far more blatant and were made far more often.

He's learning and he learns at an absolutely astonishing pace. The biggest thing I've said about him since he played his first NHL game is that his work ethic is second to none. He just learns so fast and improves at maybe the fastest rate I've seen any player improve. Whenever he makes a mistake, you seem him out on the ice working 10x as hard to make up for it.

It's really great to see a young player like him who has the opportunity of a lifetime to play with Bergy and Marchand really take advantage of it. He's not "too good" for the coach or for anyone else on the team. He knows that he's established himself as a big-time player for this team and needs to perform, but he also knows that he's young and has a lot left to learn. He'll never be a two-way player like 37 or 63, and that's fine. But he just needs to learn some more timing, when and when not to do something.

Maddening! The drop passes to nobody. The weak touch/redirect passes that didn’t have enough on them. It wasn’t just Pastrnak but he was certainly a main offender. They totally abandoned any sort of forecheck or dump n chase and it showed.

Pasta giveth and Pasta taketh. You can't really put a leash on his creativity, even if it's maddening at times. He just has to figure it out for himself, which he obviously will in time.

I love the drop pass when it works. I think it’s one of the most beautiful plays in sports.

Unfortunately it never works.

Never is pretty bold. When the back checker is late its a great way to create space between a shooter and a defender by having the person who drops the puck run interference with the defender like Krejci does in the video. Its also an effective way of attacking a 2-2.
