The gap between him and Bergeron isn't huge. Bergeron is an excellent player, but he doesn't quite have Krejci's offensive chops. Bruins lucky to have two of their best all-time centers at the same time.

he looks so happy out there when he gets to play on that first power play unit with some actual talented players.
Guy is having a great playoffs so far.

It does hurt our 2nd PP

but TBH that unit hasn't been doing much all year long

1st PP unit with Krejci has seen more offensive zone time

Cassidy has tried to squeeze an extra 30 sec out of the 1st PP unit, and it did pay off the last 2 games

A guy asked a pretty interesting question on twitter...

Will DK46 have his number retired?

Kind of got me thinking a bit...

That’s a terrific question.

I myself would lean towards no. While I have certainly enjoyed his time here I’m not sure he is among those players.

If he wins another cup, while he maintains his current trajectory in points and performance, I could see it becoming a bigger possibility.

I thought about this the other day. I also got thinking about past great Bruin rosters:

Who from the current roster is guaranteed to have their numbers retired:
Chara and Bergeron

Who from the past eras that had Stanley Cup appearances that got their numbers retired:

80's & 90's: O'Reilly, Borque, Middleton & Neely
70's: Esposito, Orr, Bucyk
40's: Schmidt, Clapper
30's: Hitchman, Shore

I would be interested how Krejci's lifetime stats compare to Middleton, O'Reilly, Esposito, Bucyk, Schmidt and Clapper. Got a simple pull of stats just sorted by games played.

I think he's borderline now, probably in that Middleton category where he'll have to wait 20-30 years

If they win the Cup and he leads the team in scoring again, then no doubt.

Naw I think he will have his jersey raised up in the rafters, along with Chara, Bergy, Marchand

It would be way too weird seeing another player wear 46. Think it would be retired too, another cup would prrtty much guarantee it.

Most Stanley cup winning teams have two great ones....Sakic and Forsberg........Yzerman and Federov.......Gretzky and Messier.....Lemeaux and Francis........Trottier and Sutter.......Crosby and Malkin.........Zetterberg and Datsyuk.............Thats like 25 cups right there above. Bergie and Krejci...should have had three by now if not for poor management. Hopefully they can get one more at least.

If Krejci hits 1000 games with Boston I think retiring his number should be seriously considered even without anymore hardware

I would sub Goring for Sutter but you're bang on.

Right, the fact all his games will have been with the Bruins (I hope), that has to push the needle a little bit.

He's top 10 in Bruins history in a lot of categories, including #8 in regular season points and #2 in playoff points.

This 100%. From 2011 to around 2014, Krejci was the number 1 center because he happened to mesh with our two best wingers, Lucic and Horton. Bergeron has been the number one center since then, because he developed chemistry with Marchand, who evolved into an elite player. It's mostly circumstance that determines which is No. 1 and No. 2. FWIW, when Krejci moves to the first line between Marchand and Pastrnak they look dynamite and don't miss a beat.

Eventually both Krejci and Marchand will likely have their numbers retired. I don't see how they can justify retiring Middleton and O'Reilly (no disrespect to either player) and not Marchand and Krejci. But like both Nifty and Taz, Marchand and Krejci will likely be waiting awhile, maybe a decade or more. Whereas Bergeron and Chara I don't think they will wait long at all, maybe two or three years. Not to mention that you don't want to wear out or lessen the novelty of retiring numbers by doing 3-4 of them in a very short time span. I think you need to space them out a bit.

Why have all those names in and leave Pasta out? I know he wasn’t part of the last cup but if he’s here long term he’s going good to crush some scoring stats

It would be criminal not to raise 46 to the rafters IMO. Especially if Boston wins one more cup.

I have high hopes for the Krejci-Kase pairing. Krejci's been our best east-west player for a long time, which I always thought was probably at least partly due to his growing up playing on the larger European rinks, plus he just has that incredible ability to slow the game down and set teammates up, especially when entering the attacking zone. I think that's particularly useful in playoffs. With the intensity being higher and everyone playing a bit more frantically, it's a real advantage if you can be a guy who actually can keep calm, assess the situation and make smart rather than forceful plays. You really see Krej shine in that way in postseasons.

DeBrusk is sometimes tuned to what Krejci's dishing out, but not always. Whereas Kase obviously grew up in the same environment as Krej, and there are already signs that he's got a bit more of that same east-west playmaking ability and read on the game. Hopefully with a little more time their chemistry will develop into something really productive. I'd also love to see just very occasional shifts where they throw Kase over to his off wing and put Pasta on the right - a Czech line that they put out there every now and then just to change things up and pose a different threat to the opposition.
