May just be Chayka knew Tippett was into analytics and the two could understand each other. Seems to be Chayka respected him quite a bit.
Maybe he thought Tippet would've been good with Stepan and Hjalmarsson? :dunno:

It is a bit odd that Tippet walked away (well sorta) right when he had a team that, in theory, would probably have been his best since the lockout year.

8 years in the same job for anyone would be a long time. Also, maybe he wanted to leave before being canned, possibly during the season.

Chayka wanted Tippet back, that's interesting.

Meh, Tippet is the reason Chayka has his job. He is in a great position where he can blame it all on ownership to save face and have less animosity between them.

I'm sure part of him wouldn't have minded Tippett being back, but he probably was also keeping his fingers crossed ownership would do this.

Don't know if there was anything more that Chayka said on the matter but there's at least an actual quote of what he said re: Tip.

If that's all there was, that isn't necessarily a resounding 'he wanted Tip back' I don't think.

No, I think that this was Barroway taking control of the team. He probably wanted all the old guard out.

A week from now he'll probably be introducing a new coach and praising them. Non issue. He's not going to trash a respected guy on his way out.

Tippett may have just reached his limit with the revolving ownerships.
