    Wondering how hes progressed.

    went:
    38-9-8-17
    38-6-19-25
    34-8-10-18

his last three seasons at Michigan St.

I'm only looking at stats so I can't completely judge but I haven't heard too much about him since the draft.

Can anyone who has seen him lately tell me more about his development?

I'll probably be able to provide in much more detail next season as I plan to move to Sparty nation soon. Personal nonsense aside, he has great wheels and a good amount of offensive talent but plays on a pretty average team. He plays in all situations (I believe) and had his best season this past year as a junior.

The fact that Winnipeg hasn't brought him in yet and he's not getting all that much stronger it seems (still a pretty soft player from what I've seen)...I wouldn't be surprised if the new regime took the 59th pick (compensatory for not signing a 1st rounder [29th overall]). It's not like this is Cheveldayoff's baby or anything...that's purely speculation with no inside knowledge on the particulars there, but I would say they went for the homerun with their second pick of the first round and ended up fouling out.

That said, he's made some decent strides this past year, which is positive. But he's playing for a contract this year no doubt...his NHL future is very questionable in my estimation.

I've seen enough of him over the years to say I don't think he'll be a NHL player. He has some good tools, but his offense never came around. Also, he's small and kinda weak.

1st time I saw him play at MSU, I wondered why he was taken in the 1st round. I saw nothing that changed my opinion in the other times I watched him play.

Thanks for the insight. WPG must be waiting to see Daultans senior season before choosing compensation, but its probably a close call between the 59th pick and him, 4 years into development.

Time will tell, definitely an interesting selection coming from Jr. B.

Can they still receive a pick if they don't sign him? What's the last year of that rule?

And anyways, in order to receive a pick, they must have attemped to sign him to an entry level contract.

At the draft he was compared to Todd Marchant. Who knows.
Most likely he'll play all 4 years at MSU now.
