Ovechkin

Fedorov
Bure
Datsyuk

its damn close I think but the only clear separation I could determine is that Ovechkin is the best while the other 3 are grouped up pretty close together. So Datsyuk/Ovechkin.

Give me Fedorov Bure AINEC.

Bure a 3 time scoring title winner, including 2 of them in the mist of the dead puck era, smoking the 2nd place, and almost scoring 60 goals in a time when it's not even easy to score 40.

Fedorov, the only player in NHL history to win a Art Ross and Frank J Selke award in one year.

Fedorov-Bure might be able to play complete high end hockey at the fastest pace of any duo in history.

Ovechkin-Datsyuk might be most versatile duo possible, with prime Ovechkin just being able to overpower everything while keeping the puck and having a laser of a shot and Datsyuk being able to cover defensively and draw tons of players while making plays happen

Went back and looked for fun. only did east cause west didnt have bad teams

99-00
Against 4 worst (ATL,TBL,NYI,BOS)
17GP 19G 10A 1.71PPG

Against 4 Best (PHI,TOR,WAS,NJ)
14GP 9G 2A .79PPG

00-01
Against 4 Worst (ATL,TBL,NYI,MON)
18GP 17G 8A 1.39PPG

Against 4 Best (OTT,NJ,BUFF,PHI)
16GP 11G 9A 1.25PPG

So atleast in 99-00 Bure was feasting on the bottom dwellars and expansion team. He did better in 00-01 and yes I know it was Bure and 17 guys named sally. One thing that people should know that may not have seen him play a lot is if he didnt score he was utterly useless. Ovi catches crap for that but bure literally stood at center ice and did nothing else. was absolutely amazed how many times I saw this when he came to verizon center. ovi atleast stick waves in the defensive zone lol

Ovi and Datsyuk played together for Russia NT and they were good, but not exactly great.

Fedorov and Bure played together at the WJC and were unstoppable (ok, there was some guy named Mogilny too). Also, iirc, played some games for NT before the 1996 WC, but I can't remember how well they did there.

3 rockets is nice, but Ovechkin has 6. Getting 2 rockets in the DPE means nothing extra, all of his competition was playing in the same situation. He was also a useless cherry picker and that wasn't even his peak/prime so it's irrelevant.

That's never actually happened in NHL history.

Ovechkin > Bure in pretty much every respect (except PKing, lol), and Bure was amazing.

Datsyuk's prime >= Fedorov's, but Fedorov's postseason performances are legendary. It's a little murky here.

Fedorov and Bure.

Really a shame the NHL screwed up or this would have actually been a line in Detroit since they turned the first draft card in on Bure in the legendary 89 draft so they should have had him too.... :shakehead

I would rank them Ovie, Fedorov, Bure Datsyuk in that order. I think it is an interesting question, but I really value Fedorov and Bure a great deal.

In any event, could not disagree more about Fedorov and Datsyuk as some sort of equal comparable. Fedorov was a better player than Datsyuk, significantly so come winning time in the post-season where he was always a pillar of strength whereas Datsyuk struggled at times.

Wait, what?

So now in this new revisionist history here at HF, Ovechkin is/was not a bullet on the ice.

Ovie wasn't either of these two in the skating department and I love Ovie. You are talking about easily two of the top five skaters of all-time when you talk Bure and Fedorov.

The latter three are really close, with ovie being slightly ahead of em. I take ovenchicken and Datsyuk.
