No to Jacob Møller Jensen and Nicolai Harries Andersen. None of those two are going anywhere. Probably not even to a steady position in the Danish league.

Torbensen and Popovic are much better, but both of them have faded a bit from being pretty solid prospects a couple of years ago to being players that might want to look at other leagues at some point, but they are not close to any big European contracts within the next couple of years. Chances are they never will, but both have some nice potential so with the right mindset and perhaps a bit of luck, you never know.

Not a very strong Danish prospect pool around right now. Or let's just be honest: A more realistic amount of talent right now after some really strong talent the past 12-15 years.

I think Denmark would have risked relegation at both U18 Worlds 2020 and this winters U20, both tournaments were cancelled (fortunately?). That's how basic our talent pool is right now.

The Danish U18 National team will participate in a 4-nation tournament in Slovakia November 11 to 13, 2021. They will play against the host nation, Belarus and Germany. This is certainly going to be a very tough test against nations that most likely are a great deal ahead of us at the moment. Because of Covid it is difficult to evaluate the strength of this team though. As far as I remember no one on the roster has played youth national team hockey for almost 2 years.
The goaltending is at best a question mark and the weakest spot on the team. I miss Kristers Steinbergs on the roster (if he chooses to play for Denmark). The defense is quite good but would be really strong if Anton Stenbakken, Anton Als and Christopher Mulberg were playing also (they are on the U20 roster). Of the defenders look out for the two 2005 born; Victor Schmidt Nielsen and Oskar Grossmann. No forward born 2004 stand out in any way, but this is the national team debut for big prospect Anton Linde (born 2006), and I really look forward to how it goes. It is a big loss for the attack that Oscar Fisker Mølgaard and Albert Uggerhøj Schioldan (both born 2005) are playing with the U20 team.

The Danish U20 national team will participate in a 4-nation tournament in Latvia November 11 to 13, 2021. They will play Latvia, Belarus and Austria. Denmark will send an average team, but unfortunately, we are not better at the moment. Two of the best players won’t participate probably because they both play in NA, it is Marcus Almquist and Kasper Bunch Larsen.

Denmark's U17 national team February 2022

Now it finally happens; the birthyear 2005 team will play its first official national team game. They never got the chance to play U16 national team games last season because of Covid, which made me conclude that it was the best U16 national team we never got to see play an official game. But today, Friday and Saturday they will play 3 games against Norway in the rink in Frederikshavn, Denmark. It will be a rather amputated team we will see though, with 7 of the best players on the U18 roster that also will play 3 games against Norway. I had also expected at least Lukas Jarlgaard, Rødovre to be on the roster but maybe he is absent because of Covid. Newer the less, I look very much forward to see how it goes against a strong adversary that has had the upper hand in junior hockey the last 4-5 years compared to Denmark.
The 3 goaltenders are all of decent quality, and traditionally they will get one game each. As most of you probably know; Valdemar Andersen is the little brother of Frederik Andersen (CAR). With only 1 player on loan to the U18 team the defense seems excellent. There are a lot of strong D-men in this birthyear, and I specially look forward to seeing the point producing machines Marius Kring Andersen, Rødovre and Oskar Grossmann, Odense. The forward group is without the first and second line and that will be noted. But thankfully the birthyear 2005 is rather deep on the forward position and there are still a lot of quality up front despite the missing players. A surprising note is that we have 5 forwards from Vojens (probably because of their hockey academy) and none from Rødovre (the traditional hockey powerhouse in Denmark). By the way; Daniel Olsson is the nephew of former national team hero and one of the most beloved Danish hockey players of all time Kim Staal.

Denmark's U18 national team February 2022

The Danish U18 national team will play 3 games against Norway as preparation for the 2022 U18 World Championship, Division 1 – group A that will take place in 2 months’ time. As usual the team is not at full strength; some key players have been left out to give room for some players that could maybe break the roster. Most notable absentees are D-men Anton Als, Rødovre and Jonas Jakobsen, Odense who both have played in the best Danish league this year. A couple of other players I miss on the roster are the 2006 born Anton Linde and Tristan Lee Juhl Petersen both Rødovre.
The birthyear 2004 has an outstandingly good defense. In a WJC context it is up with the best defenses we have ever had. I have always considered the D-men corpse of the birthyear 1997 to be something special, but this could potentially be just as good. The talent on the forward position for the birthyear 2004 is unfortunately not nearly as good and will need heavy reinforcement from birthyear 2005 to be of any use.
The games against a strong Norwegian team will give a good indication of how close we are to the best teams in the division, and show us if the championship in 2 month will be a fight for survival again.

There is a lot going on in Danish junior hockey at the moment, and I’ll try to keep you updated on current events when the time permit me to post. But I can see that I have been slow in posting results from the junior national team games that took place some time ago.

First here is information from the U16 national team games:

As I wrote earlier the Danish U16 national team was host for a 4-nation tournament in Frederikshavn, Denmark, December 16 to 18, 2021. It was reduced to a 3-nation tournament when Norway couldn’t participate because of national Covid regulations.

The results of the games were:

Denmark-Latvia 2-1 (shots: 24-20) Scoresheet
Denmark-France: 5-4 (shots: 33-22) Scoresheet
France-Latvia: 1-8 (shots: 22-37) Scoresheet

Impressive Danish play in the game against a strong Latvian team, makes me believe that the birthyear 2006 is somewhat better that I initially thought.

Denmark's U17 national teams 3 games against Norway in February 2022 were as difficult as expected. Denmark lost all of them and was clearly the weaker team. Norway was better both as a team and individually. The Norwegian players were simply better skaters, puck handlers and shooters. Only hard work kept the Danish team from getting embarrassed in the first 2 games, but in the third game Norway showed no mercy.

I still have confidence in the 2005 birthyear, but it is clearly too much of a handicap losing the 7-8 best players to the U18 national team. I believe that they will do fine at the U18 WJC next year, when every player is available, and the team is reinforced with some of the talented players from birthyear 2006.

Denmark-Norway 1-3 (shots: 21-37) Scoresheet
Denmark-Norway 3-5 (shots: 20-44) Scoresheet
Denmark-Norway 0-11 (shots: 11-48) Scoresheet

Also Denmark's U18 national team played 3 games against Norway in February 2022, and lost them all. All Danish goals were scored by the big U17 talents Albert Schioldan and Oscar Fisker Mølgaard.

Denmark-Norway 0-3 (shots: 13-28) Scoresheet
Denmark-Norway 3-5 (shots: 19-27) Scoresheet
Denmark-Norway 2-5 (shots: 18-28) Scoresheet

My list of Danish hockey prospects as of spring 2022

It has been very difficult to follow Danish Junior hockey for the last 2 years because of Covid. The Danish junior Championships were cancelled 2 years in a row, and last year’s season for junior players (2020-2021) was terminated after only a couple of months of play. Therefore, I have not been able to compile a list of the most interesting Danish prospects for quite a while. Thankfully this season (2021-2022) has been very close to normal, with only a short Covid break with no games around Christmas time, and the Danish Championships in the junior categories were held without any problems.

It is no secret that the development of Danish junior players has not been as good as it used to. The output of talents has not been impressive for the last 4-5 years unfortunately. Loosing almost a complete season to Covid has also been a big blow, although I suppose that Covid has hit hard in other countries as well. But despite all that, I’m getting slightly more optimistic for the future of Danish junior hockey. The number of junior players in Denmark is rising steadily and in many clubs the training seems to have improved. There are now more than 6.100 registered hockey players in the Danish hockey association. For those interested here are the number of hockey players for each club: Odense (586), AaB (Aalborg) (576), Herning (469), KSF (Copenhagen) (425), Gentofte (421), Rungsted (412), Falcons (Copenhagen) (403), Rødovre (399), Frederikshavn (376), Hvidovre (373), Gladsaxe (287), Herlev (276), Esbjerg (272), Ama’r (Copenhagen) (271), Aarhus (220), Vojens (219), Silkeborg (140).

Another very interesting development is that the Danish hockey association has made a U12 league, and I’m sure that it will give a boost to the development of the players aged 11. The difference from playing in the U11 league to playing in the U13 league is huge, and it takes a lot of adjustment for the 11 year old players when they must move up because of age. I wasn’t fully aware of this until March this year when I streamed many of the games at the U12 and U13 Danish Championship. The Championships were held at the same time, and I changed between the games from both U12 and U13 according to which teams I would like to watch. The difference between the U12 and U13 games is staggering; the U13 games were much better organized, with much more passing and much less player errors. In the U12 games you seldom saw three passes in a row finding teammates, and you often had 2-3-4 players fighting for the puck at the middle of the ice. The new U12 league thus provide 11 year old players (and younger) an opportunity to slowly transform their game towards the more structured play older players is practicing, and furthermore without having to battle the physical differences playing against someone a year older than you.

Every time I make a list like this, I must notice that it is far from complete. I am just a hockey fan with limited knowledge of what’s going on. To compile it I have used information readily available on the internet, statistical data, reports, and articles. This year is somewhat different though regarding firsthand viewing. Automatic video cameras have been installed in most rinks in Denmark, and for a fee of around EUR 10 a month you can stream all hockey games played (except the best Danish league). That includes ALL junior games, even though the games played by the 6-10 years old probably exclusively are of interest of the VERY close relatives of the players 😊

I have streamed a LOT of junior games and it has been a great experience. The video quality is surprisingly good and is easily worth the price, and furthermore most games are saved on a server, and many can be accessed even several months after they are played. If you are interested in Danish junior hockey, I highly recommend this solution. Danskishockeytv

The vast majority of the players on my list I have seen (streamed) at least a couple of times and especially the 14 years old (U15) and younger I have watched countless times. But I don’t have insider information, so I cannot evaluate if a player is hard working and dedicated at training, I can only see how he behaves in a game. I am sure that there are players outside this list that will have better careers than many on this list, so please take it for what it is; my take on who are the most promising Danish prospects at the moment.

The players mentioned are placed alphabetically according to the name of the team where they are playing, and not according to how I rank them. I will mention some of the players to look especially out for, and also give a short evaluation of how I view the general quality of the birth year.

There are no Goalies on the list, because I don’t feel qualified to give them a fair evaluation.

Birth-year 2004

I’ll start out with the prospects born in 2004 (U18 players).
It has never been considered a strong birth year especially considering the forwards, and there is not much depth in this birth year either. But actually - in a Danish context - there are a lot of good defenders. A couple of years ago I thought that maybe Anton Stenbakken or Anton Als could have a small chance of getting drafted to the NHL, but that will probably not happen. But all on the list have a shot at being regulars in the best Danish League at least.

Christopher Holm Mulberg, Frederikshavn D

Victor Gade, Herlev F

Anton Ibman Stenbakken, Malmö SWE D

Jonas S. Jakobsen, Odense D

Oliver Villadsen, IK Oskarshamn SWE D

Anton Mikkelsen Als, Rødovre D

Edvard Lundmark, Rødovre D

Sebastian Maddock Rasmussen, Växjö Lakers SWE F

Birth-year 2005

Traditionally the odd birth years have been stronger than the even birth years in Danish hockey for as long as I have been following it. The 2005 birth year also seems much stronger than the 2004 birth year. Here we have at least 2 forwards (Albert Schioldan and Oscar Mølgaard) with a shot at being drafted to the NHL next year. They are from Frederikshavn but now play in the Swedish junior system. Other promising forward prospects are Daniel Olsson, Zug SCH (the nephew of Kim Staal), and the best prospect still playing in Denmark Hjalte Kruse Thomsen, Herning, who has already played some games in the best Danish League. I also like that there seems to be a good depth in this birth year and several other players will probably go on to get a very successful career in hockey.

Victor Schmidt Nielsen, Borås SWE D

Tobias Ebener, Esbjerg F

Philip Rubin, Esbjerg F

Matias Ingemann Larsen, Herlev F

Hjalte Kruse Thomsen, Herning F

Albert Uggerhøj Schioldan, HV71 SWE F

Oscar Fisker Mølgaard, HV71 SWE F

Lucas Riis Bach, Jonstorps SWE D

Oskar Grossmann, Odense D

Marius Kring Andersen, Rødovre D

Lukas Jarlgaard, Rødovre F

Jens Zion, Vojens F

Mathias Jensen, Vojens F

Daniel Olsson, Zug SCH F

Birth-year 2006

Birth year 2006 is characterized with having one of the biggest prospects in the Danish junior system: Anton Linde. I have also high hopes for another Rødovre prospect; Tristan Lee Juhl Petersen. They have both been doing great this season and have even been playing some short stints in the best Danish league. Besides those there are also some interesting defenders in this group to keep an eye on. The depth of talent is not that abundant though. After the players mentioned here the quality drops quite fast.

Gustav Nørgaard, Aalborg F

Tobias Villadsen, Aalborg F

Johan Carlslund Nyholt, Herlev D

Tobias Vogelius Andersen, Herlev F

Jesper Bank Olesen, Herning D

Markus Jakobsen, Odense D

Oliver Kristensen, Odense D

Frederick Rother Amondsen, Rødovre D

Anton Linde, Rødovre F

Tristan Lee Juhl Petersen, Rødovre F

Oliver Nielsen, Vojens D

Peter Bechsgaard Truelsen, Vojens F

William Uhre, Vojens F

Birth-year 2007

For the younger birth years, it is getting increasingly difficult to evaluate the relative strength of the different birth years because last season was terminated so early. But it shall not prohibit me from trying to do it, nonetheless. The birth year 2007 is very intriguing; there may not be a huge prospect that dwarfs all the other players, but the depth of talent seems fantastic. I look very much forward to see if they can dominate the Danish U17 league the coming season, because I believe that they will. Even though the quality of the prospects may not be worth a NHL draft pick in two years’ time, I will not dismiss the possibility of it to happen. First, I would like to mention the best first line in the Danish U15 league this season; the forwards from Aalborg, Oliver Dejbjerg Larsen, Mike Westmark and Lucas Cilan Hjorth Jensen. They have just been utterly dominant, and specially Oliver Dejbjerg Larsen could have a breakout year next season. He is technically excellent and is such a smooth skater. The forwards Mads Kongsbak Klyvø, Frederikshavn, Martin Damgaard, Herning, Linus Rørth, Rødovre and Marius Lykke Larsen, Herlev are also interesting prospects. Of the defenders I would like to keep an eye out for Frederik Rundh, Aalborg, Lukas Nielsen, Rødovre and Rune Freund, Vojens.

Frederik Rundh, Aalborg D

Oliver Dejbjerg Larsen, Aalborg F

Mike Westmark, Aalborg F

Lucas Cilan Hjorth Jensen, Aalborg F

Jeppe Bertram, Esbjerg D

Benjamin Lodberg Jakobsen, Esbjerg D

Victor Zulow Laursen, Esbjerg F

Lasse Bærentsen, Esbjerg F

Mikkel David, Frederikshavn D

Mads Kongsbak Klyvø, Frederikshavn F

Elias Borup Olsen, Frederikshavn F

Magnus Christian Bertelsen, Frederikshavn F

Gustav Reinert, Frederikshavn F

Jeppe-Villads Hoffmeyer Molbech, Gentofte D

Bastian Ortmann, Gentofte D

Tobias Guryca, Gentofte F

Christian Lindholt Hartmann, Gentofte F

Marius Lykke Larsen, Herlev F

Filip Marklund, Herlev F

Rasmus Gade, Herlev F

Martin Damgaard, Herning F

Valdemar Bilgrav, Herning F

Ian Glinski, Herning F

Albert Grossmann, Odense F

Oliver Green, Rungsted F

Anders Bo Fuglsang Grandal, Rungsted F

Lukas Nielsen, Rødovre D

Noah Faber Jakobsen, Rødovre D/F

Mikey Bergmann, Rødovre F

William Bundgaard, Rødovre F

Linus Rørth, Rødovre F

Rune Freund, Vojens D

Elias Staugaard, Vojens F

Birth-year 2008

The birth year 2008 has probably been the most difficult for me to evaluate. They have been in the U15 league as U14 players, and it has been difficult for many of them to make an impact. Because last season was cut short, they only managed to play a couple of months in the U13 league in 2020.

Some of the following forward prospects are worth looking out for; Martinus Uggerhøj Schioldan, Frederikshavn (brother to Albert), Alexander Lepola and Malthe Lehmann, Herlev, Casey Joshua Silverman Cassilver, Rungsted, Gustav Remler-Jensen, Rødovre and Andreas Kløve Mogensen, Vojens. Of defenders I especially like (stay-at-home) Max Kramer, Gentofte, and the more offensive Anton Dichow, Vojens probably with family ties to national team goalie Frederik Dichow.

I haven’t seen any games of Otto Gregersen who is playing in Malmö, Sweden, but his production in the regional U14 league is impressive. I suppose he got double nationality – Swedish/Danish - because he has participated in some training in Denmark for his age group, arranged by the Danish hockey association.

Lucas Kjeldgaard Larsen, Aalborg D

Luca Bærentsen, Esbjerg D

Morgan Lumbye, Esbjerg D

Andreas Jørgensen, Esbjerg F

Martinus Uggerhøj Schioldan, Frederikshavn F

Max Kramer, Gentofte D

Alexander Lepola, Herlev F

Malthe Lehmann, Herlev F

William Faurholm, Herlev F

Birth-year 2009

We are now entering some birth years that are close to my heart. I have streamed countless games from the U13 and U12 league this season and I have truly enjoyed it. There is a guaranty for action and a lot of goals, and actually there are a lot of really fun players to watch. Of course, the players are at the start of their development, and much can and will happen before they mature, but you can easily appreciate those that are technically superior, because they get the time and space to make a difference in a game.

Birth year 2009 is characterized with having the most promising Danish prospect after Anton Linde. His name is Thoke Heinsen and he is a forward playing in Esbjerg. Tall and slender, he is a great skater with explosive acceleration and a high top speed. He can easily outrun most players up to 2 years older than him. With good instincts and awareness, he will always try to find open ice. He is a good passer and is not selfish if there is a teammate in a better position to take a shot. He got a great wrist shot and backhander and he can snipe it top shelf even from difficult angles. A good stick handler also in traffic. Furthermore, he is not afraid of going into the corners or using his body to protect the puck if needed. He is too good to play against his peers, so he has played the whole season in the U15 league and made 27 goals and 13 assists in 24 games, that made him an impressive no. 7 on the top goal scorer list.

Other very promising prospects are the forwards Felix Nolsøe, Aalborg, Noah Samuelsen, Frederikshavn, Victor Michagin, Gentofte (I’ll comment on him a little later) and Kian Schade Foder, Vojens. The rest of the players on the list have all had a great hockey year, so this birth year looks very promising indeed.

Felix Nolsøe, Aalborg F

Oskar Thykjær Bakgaard, Aalborg F

Buster Weinreich Sørensen, Aalborg F

Arthur Karlsen, Amager F

Villads Lemmeke Horsfeldt, Amager F

Thoke Heinsen, Esbjerg F

Noah Samuelsen, Frederikshavn F

Victor Michagin, Gentofte F

Christian Jacobsen, Herning F

Mikkel Tang Sørensen, Herning F

Nikolaj F. Pedersen, Herning F

Arthur Wandler Kjær, KSF F

Oscar Winther Høier, Rungsted F

Robert Christensen, Vojens D

Kian Schade Foder, Vojens F

Birth-year 2010 and younger

The last part will contain birth year 2010 and younger players. The players in this group may be young but many of them are surprisingly good technically. I will describe some of the forwards who has impressed me the most this season. The first one is Sebastian Degn, Herning (birth-year 2010) With this last name the expectations are high, and he certainly doesn’t disappoint. He has it all; top quality skating, stickhandling, passing and shooting and he plays a very mature game for his age. He is tall and when playing against boys up to 3 years older than him he doesn’t look out of place. The next are the trio from Gentofte; Victor Michagin (birth-year 2009), Mattis Back (birth-year 2010) and Daniel Heeris (birth-year 2011). They are all great skaters, very speedy and with good edge work and are all super danglers. Top class stickhandling and shooting and simply a joy to watch. They were the reason I streamed all Gentofte games at both the U12 and the U13 Danish Championship. Then we have Victor Schou Florentz, Gladsaxe (birth-year 2011). He is a great hockey player, and his style of play reminds me of the above mentioned Gentofte boys. He is a top prospect but playing for a weak Gladsaxe team, I’m worried if that will slow down his development. Daily training with high quality teammates is a must for a player like him. As a side note: Victor Michagin also played for Gladsaxe, before moving to Gentofte. Another fun player to watch is Mingus Pander, Herning (birth-year 2012?) and also son of a former Herning and Danish national team player. Because of his young age he is still on the small side, but he carried a well-organized Herning team on his back at the U12 Danish Championship and took them to a silver medal. I am not sure if the birth year is correct, but if it is he is light years ahead of his peers. Lastly, I would like to mention Gustav Skriver, Esbjerg (birth-year 2010) He is a puck magician and has been easily recognizable on the Esbjerg U12 and U13 teams this season. Great skating, puck handling and shooting and makes it all look easy. He was a key player on the Esbjerg U12 team that won the Danish Championship.

Janik Führer, Aalborg F

Gustav Skriver, Esbjerg F

Frederik Madsen, Esbjerg F

Milo Bærentsen, Esbjerg F

Lauge Mølholt, Frederikshavn F

Karl Reinert, Frederikshavn F

Mattis Back, Gentofte D/F

Daniel Heeris, Gentofte F (2011)

Victor Schou Florentz, Gladsaxe F (2011)

Valdemar Schadegg, Herlev F

Sebastian Degn, Herning F

Mingus Pander, Herning F (2012?)

Carlos Kali Junge, KSF F

Aleksander Bilenko, Odense F

Gabriel Axel Lindvig Johansen, Rødovre F

Marcus Holm Jensen, Rødovre F

August Valdemar Rasmussen, Rødovre F (2011)

Hans Christian Baarsøe, Vojens D

It is important to mention that there also are a lot of promising girl players coming up. I have not added them to my list, but I really liked some of those I saw at the Danish U13 Championship. In birth year 2008 and younger there are a lot of girls playing at a very high level and with the influx of many girls in especially the Copenhagen clubs, the future looks bright.

It has taken me quite some time to make this list, so any comments or constructive criticism are highly appreciated.

Appreciate all your hard work to compile these. Can't speak to any of the players but will be interesting to follow in the years ahead, I am sure many of the best ones will go through Sweden during their junior years.

Maybe a grading of "potential 1st rounder"/"potential draft" or similar to make it easier to follow who you think have really high potential.

Who would be the most promising player out of Denmark the next 5 seasons? Do we know?
If I should answer this question right now I would say Oscar Fisker Mølgaard, HV71 (SWE). He has been dominant in the Swedish junior system, and seems to be our best bet on a player who will get drafted to the NHL. Another possibility is Anton Linde who has just moved to Sweden this season. He has been as dominant in the Danish Junior leagues as the biggest Danish talents before him.

The close proximity to Sweden has certainly helped a lot of the best Danish players to be successful. Almost all Danish players drafted to the NHL have been playing in the Swedish junior hockey system in their draft-year.

I would like to be able to grading the players further than I have done, but I don't feel qualified to do so. I'm not with the players on a daily basis, and can only evaluate them based on streaming and stats. The players I have mentioned in the text are the ones I feel will have the biggest chance for success, but you must remember that very few Danes will get drafted, and I also consider playing in the best Danish League for a successful career. Probably only a few of the players mentioned (1-4 each birth year) will become professional players.

Just stumbled over this remark and I thought is was worth correcting. 25 Danes have been drafted over the years and they played in leagues spread out as such in the year they were drafted:

Sweden 10
Denmark 9
Canada 5
USA 1

40% is not "almost all" which is important for the youngsters to notice. There are other ways of catching the eyes of the NHL clubs than going to Sweden.

He has been great this season in SHL. Reminds me of Nikolaj Ehlers.

Molgaard and Almquist is gonna have fun together in the upcoming WJC.

Apparently, the Danish youth leagues will see a transformation this coming season. For many years the Danish youth leagues have been divided into the following age groups; U7, U9, U11, U13, U15, U17 and U20. It has been necessary to include two birth-years in each age group of practical reasons, as most teams doesn’t have enough youth players to make teams otherwise. Furthermore, the Danish youth system is divided into two geographical parts; East-Denmark and West-Denmark to reduce the transport times for games in the regular season. At the end of season, the Danish championship for each age group takes place at different week-ends in March.

For this season the age groups have been changed to U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, U18 and U20. I have not been able to find out the reason for this change as the Danish hockey association has not communicated publicly about it. I haven’t decided yet if I like the changes or not, but I would like to hear if you have any opinion of this!

Is there anything noteworthy coming out of Denmark, or has development stagnated since the rise of the nepo baby generation?

Take Almquist, for instance. What on earth happened there?

While they may not be producing NHL-caliber prospects, perhaps there are some SHL-caliber talents worth acknowledging. It just seems like the development has come to a rather abrupt halt. Or am I mistaken in this assessment?

It has been written several places in this thread, that the 2000-2004 birth years have been much weaker that usually. Or maybe we have been blessed with an abundance of talents in the birth years 1989-1999, and we have just returned to a more normal prospect pool for a country our size.

The birth years 2005 and 2007 seems very strong (the 2005 birth year players should have qualified Denmark to the top division in the U18 JWC this spring, but a stupid loss in the first round prevented it), and some of the younger birth years looks promising.

Marcus Almquist has returned to Denmark where he has had a great start in the best Danish league. If he can get his game going, I won’t rule out that he some day can play in the SHL.
