That buildings only what, 15yrs old? Surely when it was built the contractors followed code with exits at minimum. I can understand, maybe, a sprinkler system being in need of upgrades but it appears none was ever installed and now what theyve got not up to scratch. Surely this is as much the cities problem no? Doesnt add up.

When the "arena" was built, it was a rec rink/pratice-type facility. When the Galantes brought the Trashers in, they did some upgrades. But, at the heart of it, it is still a small rec rink. Probably does not meet fire code for the capacity of the rink.

Sad to hear about this especially involving Danbury, if there was one team from day one that was the backbone of the FHL, it is them. Every home game they get good crowds with tons of fan support, sad that a good team, well run may be the downfall of the clown run FHL.

If the FHL loses Danbury, it is over, the league cannot survive with losing a franchise like the Whalers, cannot make up the usual "road team" only fill ins in this case.

Oh ok, gotcha. Thanks.

Certainly appears to be a really tricky situation. They owe the city 70 grand, dont have it, so what happens? City stops providing Cops & Fire Marshalls, no games, sues.... cooked unless they can come to some kind of agreement & settlement. Even after they do though, those costs of Police & Fire Marshalling, upgrades required are going to be ongoing costs. Doesnt sound like the buildings practicable. Real problem for the club, league & city. I sure they hope they can work something out.
