Daley no longer is the pure PP specialist people expected him to be. He's a solid, two-way second pairing defenseman. His defensive game has developed alot, that's his main priority, his offense will come. He hasn't gotten many PP oppertunities yet, but he will eventually. I've not seen enough of Ehrhoff to make a fair judgement, but what I've seen didn't look too good. I believe Shark fans have been dissapointed with him as well.

Daley is the safer bet for now, and probably for the future, even though I'm biased.

Daley is not even on the PP. The first pp unit is Zubov and Boucher. The second is often still Zubie(he plays a ton of minutes/Robidas and Modano. Nimamma likely replaces Modano at the point. Daley is the #4 defenseman here period. He has become really solid defensively. Hadn't scored in like 20 games but has never played better. He and Klemm are the second pair. Saw the game against SJ last night. Thorton is so dangerous. WOW. But I have to say defense was lacking. Stars hit 3 posts that I remember. Erhoff was invisible(he may not have played) and Gorges is awful. Mclaren is forced to handle the puck way too much for his limited skillset although he is a good defenseman. Hannon is solid too. Preissing was soft I thought. SJ has no depth on d-and little in the way of top pair types. Carle also seems to be the only prospect. Take away marleau and thornton that is is really not that good

Ehrhoff did not play last night. I haven't really seen enough of Daley to compare but many of us Sharks fans have been disappointed. Occasionally I'll see a glimmer of offensive ability but I just don't think he's a great defenseman.

I think ceiling-wise Ehrhoff can become a much better PP QB than Daley. The problem is that he won't get a sniff of the required ice time to get there if he doesn't commit himself to playing a smarter game. The Sharks system and Ehrhoff's game are at odds with each other as long as he keeps taking bonehead risks. There is still hope for him yet: look at Joe Corvo in Los Angeles. He was doing exactly the same sort of stupid stuff last season that Ehrhoff does now.

As it is right now, I'd take Daley hands down. But if Ehrhoff starts to play smarter, it'd be much more of a debate.

You're right, but he was that game. I'm assuming that's all Starsdude has seen of him.

Yeah I really haven't seen him at all but he mishandled the puck , got destroyed in the corners and was Morrow's personal whipping boy.

I've noticed that since commentators started mentioning that he had only been on the ice for one even strength goal in 16 games (a good portion against top lines), his game has gone to ****. Now I don't know if teams are now putting some focus on him and exploiting his lack of size or if he is trying to much to keep up that level of play...but if he doesn't adjust soon he could stamp his own ticket back to Clevo. Personally, I think the kid is too smart and will find a way to adjust.

And the Sharks won't let Ehrhoff grow. Its quite frustrating.
