You know what happens with these these tournaments. People who don’t watch these players during the season make big sweeping assessments on these players ability based on their play in a two week tournament.

Offense starts with a solid D core.

You can build a team using the Edmonton model - load up on scoring forwards - and windup with a team who still can't score because they lack blue-liners who can move the puck out of their own zone. Or you can build a team using the Carolina model - load up on the back-end - and have a team that's dangerous offensive because you have 3-4 solid defencemen who can lead the rush up the ice and enter the offensive zone with possession. Right now the Canucks have one defenseman who can move the puck and generate any offense.

All goes back to always pick the bpa with your first rounder. If you think Soderstrom is the bpa then by all means go pick him but most Canucks fans only seem to want him because he’s right handed. Imo the forwards Canucks could potentially get at 10 have a higher upside and project to have a higher impact than Söderström

Think he will be a top pairing guy. If he finds the offense a Karlsson lite but otherwise I like the Ekholm Lindholm comparisons couple pages back. Tournament might hurt him but will be some other smart team's gain.

Not a huge difference as i see your point, but we also have Hughes now, so theres 2

For sure, some good forward is going to slip might be Podkolzin, Dach , Newhook, Zegras, Boldy, all have great potential.

All good at moving the puck up ice. You take BPA. Simple. And at 10 that will be a forward.

Edmonton traded their only elite winger for a solid D, work out great.

Nashville has had 4 1d for a couple of years, where is their cup?

D is extremly overrated
