BRAD RICHARDS has been signed to a 10 year deal worth 7.14M
annually. The deal is heavily front loaded, comes with a NMC for the
first 8 years, and a NTC in the last 2. We look forward to Brad
centering our top line with Cammallari and Kane... conceivably the best
1st line in the league.

Signing Brad was an arduous ordeal. We thank the cooperation of the
league commissioner donghabs98 and Brad's agent
JumpierPegasus in getting a deal done. The Blackhawks
organization believes that everyone involved came out a winner today
(EDITORS NOTE: Except for the NYR :p:).

Unfortunately, the signing of Richards did not come without casualties
of the cap.

RYAN SMYTH has been placed on waivers. We had hoped to find an
adequate solution for Smyth after the Los Angeles Kings unceremoniously
dumped the fan favorite. In another time, and another place, I would
have loved Smyth on my team. We hope Smyth finds a home with an
organization in the league.

NIKALAS HJALMARSSON was dealt at 9:30PM EST time this evening to
the Carolina Hurricanes. In return, the Blackhawks received defensive
prospect Connor Murphy (son of former NHLer gord Murphy) and forward
Jiri Tlusty. We wish "The Hammer" all the best. (EDITORS NOTE: Except
on the ice)

To replace the vacant Top-4 spot on the blueline, JAN HEDJA has
been signed to a two-year deal at $1.5M Hejda had indicated to us that
he would relish the opportunity to win a cup with legitimate Stanley
Cup favorites. After the Richards signing, this deal was consummated.
Hedja is a defensive stalewart, facing top pairing opposition every
night and receiving very little fan fare. We are extremely pleased to
have this underrated defender in the organization, and we believe he
will be a great success in our Top-4.

In a bit of housecleaning, PATRICK SHARP has been named Captain.
Alternate Captains will be BRENT SEABROOK and DAVE
BOLLAND
.

Cammallari - Richards - Kane
Ladd - Sharp - Schenn
Bickell - Bolland - Frolik
Brouwer - xxxxxx - Smith

Enstrom - Seabrook
Bogosian - Hejda
Leddy - Campoli

Crawford
Salak

Our immediate focus turns to signing a veteran center to fill the 4th
line. We have offers out, and we expect a signing within the next
couple of days.

'Canes confirm the trade.

We are very excited about the addition of Hjalmarsson. We feel we have finally rounded out our defense that already includes Erik Johnson, Paul Martin, Ryan Whitney, Tim Gleason, Jamie McBain and Derek Joslin.

We feel with this defense and Cam Ward in net, we will be much better at keeping the puck out of our own net this year.

'Canes have also signed Chad LaRose to a 2 year deal worth 3 million. The deal pays him 1.5m per year. With these acquisitions we feel very confident about our roster. We are looking at adding one more forward with our remaining cap space.

According to sources, close to the :avs, Victor Rask became property of the Canadins due to a trade that was forgotten
Joey Hishon was sent to Montreal as well
This means that Cal O'Reilly will be called up. Also, Scott Mayfield has been sent down, meaning he will make the team as early as next year. Ryan Wilson has made the team.
In other news, the Avs are in talks with Sean Bergenheim and Zenon Konopka.
And finally, there is a dispute whether Luke schenn has 2 contracts. His first agent has him listed at a cap hit of 4.75 mil, while his new agent has him listed at 4 mil, the deal the Avs agreed on....
More to come....

After he was traded from LAK, I chose not to honor his clause. Its pretty standard practice with trades involving clauses like these. I can provide examples.

You can only not do that if the contract was not in effect ex.

Team A resigns a player for 10 years 50m NTC in mid season

Team A trades said player to team B at Draft.

Team B has the option to honor or dishonor.

You cannot do this

Team A resigns player 10 years 50m NTC

Team A trades player the following season to Team B

Team b is stuck with the NTC

Trust me, this is why heatley still has the NTC

On that note.

Are pleased to welcome back to our organization Christian Erhoff!

Terms of the deal were not given. But @BobMckenzie is reporting its 65m/12 years.

We expect Christian to play on a pairing with future HoF Chris Pronger.

We are very excited to give Christian back his #10 teal jersey. He should step right in and contribute on the PP.

This gives Sj a cup caliber defence. And oddly enough only 1 remaining top 4 from the previous season and only 2 outta the 6

The Hurricanes are thrilled to bring back Jussi Jokinen on a 5 year deal. The deal pays him 3.8m per year.

To make room for Jussi, the 'Canes waive Patrick Dwyer (1 year 500k).

With this move, the Hurricanes are done with trades and signings and look forward to competing next season.

:nashville has signed scrappy forward Zenon Konopka to a deal worth 1.5 million dollars for 1 year. We feel that we needed this extra toughness to our fourth line and believe that if we need an ever important faceoff win, he can deliver it.

Question, can we retract an offersheet?
