Regula is lesser known but a good prospect. I noticed him by accident just from watching Bouchard. He’s definitely a sleeper type pick in the mid rounds.

I doubt he'll be a sleeper by the time the draft comes around. I expect him to be a 2nd/3rd round pick.

I know he was a WHL guy, but is he similar to Ryan Pulock at all?

They have pretty similar U18 seasons and similar size.

He’s a more fluid skater than Pulock. Pulock I would say is/was more of a physical specimen than Bouchard

An excellent group of players and the only bust was spotted by scouts ahead of time and went in the third round.

PPG is an excellent measure of skill and hockey sense, and absolutely means something in projecting how a player will fare at future levels.

It doesn't mean one doesn't have to also watch the players and evaluate them with the eye test, but it is definitely a valuable metric.

Well, yes, if we were to do a correlation chart on OHL PPG for defensemen, then I am sure there would be a positive correlation to pro hockey success. For example, a guy with 1PPG vs a guy with 0.2PPG will most likely see the guy with 1 PPG have more future success. However, when evaluating a number of defensemen all with high PPG as in this thread, and trying to determine who is better, we will actually have to use the eye test as well. As already mentioned in this thread, guys like Ryan Murphy and Ryan Ellis had high PPG in their draft year but neither is/was better than Drew Doughty.

I haven't seen a Junior player do that before, that is some high IQ stuff.
