Noticed Lukas Jasek is doing really well in Finland. Happy for him.

Rysavy was too
Mysak was sent to the OHL
Safin was sent to the AHL
Kral is tearing it up in preseason. I don't think he'll stick but I think he'll be in the AHL and might be an injury or 2 away from his first NHL game.

My point? We have the 1D on a lot of teams in the CHL this season... a guy like Mysak should do really well in Hamilton. Might be a pretty good season for Czechs in the CHL.
Jiricek is the highest rated Dman by McKenzie and looks to be a first round lock. They have him at 10. Let's see how it plays out.

So our numbers should stay more or less same as last year.

I think you may be right about Kaut but I hope you're wrong. He's my fav prospect and I'm surprised he hasn't made it already. I think he's 22. Maybe he gets traded?
Agree about Frolik.. so sad.. I still remember when he was baby Jagr.
Hope you're right about Raska and Lauko.
In some crap news.. my second fav prospect is Jenik and he just got sent to the AHL. Along with Chalupa and Kral (who I didn't expect to make it but I think he made a good impression).
Sucks that D. Kase, Chlapik and Spacek never made the NHL. At least we'll see them at the World's and Spengler Cups for years to come.

Good news and bad news...
Karel Vejmelka has, very surprisingly, got a job in the NHL for now. The Coyotes kept him and I imagine he'll be debuting at some point this month! What a surprise.
Bad news is that it was at the expense of Josef Korenar who is going to the AHL. I suspect we'll see him later in the year either via injury or callup. Pure guess.

Kempny to the minors... Might get claimed? It's possible that, by Wednesday, we will have 3 Olympic hopeful D in the AHL in Zboril, Hajek and Kempny.

First goal of the season is Dominik Simon! He beat Vasilevsky with a BOMB.. okay, it was a total fluke goal and I didn't expect Simon back in the NHL so I'm probably excited for nothing. I was sad that Zohorna didn't make final cut to be honest.

Don't get me wrong.. I'm not confused on who are the big players in Tampa... it is neat though to see 2 Czechs on the D of the defending stanley cup champs. I was sad to see Masin is off to Finland... I honestly don't know what went wrong there and how he didn't become an NHL regular somewhere.
Hajek didn't play last night.

If you had asked me at the end of last season who the 10 best Czech goalies are... Vejmelka wouldn't have made the list.
Yet here we are:
Getting in an NHL start before Vladar, Francouz and Korenar.
Mrazek is also injured and wasn't able to play a full game. He was lights out in the 2nd.
So, from an Olympic perspective, mrazek and franouz are injuried.
Vanecek, Vladar and Rittich?

I saw some preseason games and am now watching the Sabres game, Vejmelka is looking better than I would have ever guessed. Do you believe in miracles?
With Hutton playing like garbage year after year I feel like Vejmelka has a chance to be the Czech goalie with most games played this season, no joke.

I think Raska has decent chance. Expect SJ to be sellers and he may get some games even before that.
On the other hand, didn't expect to see Sustr in NHL ever again and he played before many players that I thought had decent chance.

You are correct.. totally forgot about Raska. He hung on long in training camp. He does have a great bottom 6 NHL game.

He is actually the first player since Tomas Hertl to go from Extraliga to NHL directly. This never happens anymore. Amazing story. Hope he sticks and they call up Korenar and they are a tandem. Definitely not something I expected.
I think Vanecek will end up with most games played now that Mrazek is out.

If you asked me before the free agency, I would've said Vejmelka was maybe the 15th best Czech goalie. Even behind our strong Euro's like Bartosak, Will and Hrubec. Not even close to our NHL and AHL guys. Definitely not close to even Korenar.

Now they just need to call up Korenar, Jenik and unglue Jaskin from the pressbox!
