Just wanted to let you know I think it's great to have some Czech contributors around here. These forums have been missing that for years. I don't know that I'll have much to add but I'll certainly be following anything you post here.

That said, is it a surprise for Martin Frk not to be with the U20 team for their tournament? He's getting serious hype in the prospects section so with Musil and Hrbas there I'd figure he'd get a look as well.

In my opinion Frk could be there. But he's still young and I guess CZE U18 needs him more, that's probably the reason, why he started new season with U18. But don't forget he still has 2 years with U20 ahead of him after this year. Everything also depends on his coming or not coming overseas before start of the season. If he joins Halifax Mooseheads, he probably won't be available for U18 WC. And if he does well in North America, there is good chance he can be invited to U20.

The same could be said for both Musil and Hrbas though. The Hlinka tournament is certainly more high profile than the summer challenge as well. It seems to make sense to send all the U18 players to it. At least it does to me. Unless the Czech association is expecting to have Frk stay home this season. That would give him the chance the play with the U20 team in September and/or November whereas Musil and Hrbas are sure to be in North America and unavailable for any other U20 auditions.

That's true. It's clear that Musil and Hrbas won't be available for next tournaments, so they took them to Switzerland. Seems like they wanted Frk to play Ivan Hlinka Cup and decided to take the risk of not having him on U20 team. That's what it looks like.

I have to agree,I´m also really glad that we finally have a pernament Czech hockey related thread on here.

One note though- The Euro Hockey Challenge thing- if it´s played at all (Ján Filc seemed to be pretty sceptical about it) it will be called differently, EHC might confuse it with an already existing tourney that some of the lower Euro teams play Euro Ice Hockey Challenge.

And what's the reason of his skepticism? I thought Slovaks wanted to play more games with EHT countries during the season.

Yes, of course we want and so do the other nations, but he mentioned that it would have to be done in haste and hat he doubts that it will work in 2011 at least in the format as expected. Later on it can of course work, but there might be not enough time to proper everything properly for 2011.

We'll see. I've read somewhere that on September will be held some congress of IIHF and this thing should be discussed there.

Do you have some info about Doudera? I'd like to know what's up with him.

If you check the roster closely, you will find the fact that while Honzik and Jaskin are on the roster, several good players who were also selected in Import draft not-Frk, Doudera, Beranek, Machovsky, Stransky. It could mean that coaches decided to play with guys who informed coaches about staying in Europe this season as there is actually legitimate possibility that both Honzik and Jaskin stay one more season in Europe.
However it´s only my guess.
Doudera is not NHL prospect in my eyes but he would be top D on this team.

Yea your point could be true, thanks :) They probably want to play with guys, who will be available for U18 WHC.

reminder

Today officially retired from hockey two big legends of the Czech National Team - Robert Reichel and Jiří Å légr. It was during exhibition game, which they organized in their home town Litvínov and invited their friends to play with them their last game (Jágr, Kaberle brothers, Patera, Procházka, Ručinský and many others). They both were members of gold winning team from Nagano and many other successful squads.

Not yet. I'll post all czech scorers from both games as soon as it appears somewhere.

Ok, thanks. It will be interesting to see what tomorrow´s ame will bring. There are 4 goalies, 12 D and 18 forwards in Slovak camp, so tomorrow the two lines that didn´t should play, I´m just not sure whether they will replace the bottom two lines from today or the top two.

I think it deserves a mention that Šlégr scored 5 goals in his good-bye game.
Albi team - Guma team 11:11 (4:1, 2:4, 5:6). goals: 45. and 59. K. Reichel, 13. Nikolov, 14. R. Reichel, 15. Patera, 19. Vlasák, 25. Chára, 39. Procházka, 44. LukeÅ¡, 44. Lála, 48. Pálffy - 30., 39., 45., 60. and 60. Å légr, 58. a 60. Prorok, 11. Dejdar, 22. F. Kaberle, 31. Beránek, 55. Ručinský.

Did Džegr really play? It´s unusual not to see him on the score sheet :sarcasm:

I've read that he assisted most of Šlégr's goals :)

EDIT: also to mention is that their numbers were retired in Litvínov.
