Marchand... 3 straight elite seasons, coming off a 100 point season with very good playoff numbers during that time as well.

I think Marchand is pretty dumb defensively a lot of the time, he gets away with it because of his linemates. Great scorer, great p.o.s. though.

Stone can come close enough on scoring that he's more valuable.

Bingo what I got.

I like Marchand a lot but I think playing with who he plays with and the chemistry they got takes him from being a nearly elite to a truly elite winger whereas Stone is elite on his own.
I agree with this

For how good Canada’s center depth is, it’s a pretty pitiful state on the wings.

Stone's career high is 73pts. Marchand just put up seasons of 85, 85 and 100pts. Stone has never been close to a top 10 pts finish, Marchand has come top 5 2x. They are in no way "close enough" in scoring, unless you think a ~60pt guy = a ~90pt guy.

Chemistry isn't the reason why 1 guy is a ~60pt player and the other is a ~90pt player.

I think his point was just that Stone is better defensively and that closes the gap for him. Just trying to clarify :)

By close like how a 60 point scorer is close to a 90 point scorer?

Yeah sure that's the same logic people tried to argue Toews was better than Malkin.

A hart trophy winner, a 100 point scorer, a 94 point 21 year old and the best defensive winger in the game? Awful take.

Yeah, I mean...Marchand. He's good enough defensively that there isnt any merit to Stone's defensive ability closing a 25 point gap. Not that I think it should anyways, defense is overrated when it comes to forward imo
