Hi all, and Happy Holidays.
So, just this morning Sidney Crosby was appointed to the Order of Canada, one of that nation's highest civilian honours.
Canadian hockey fans can all be confident that his Vancouver Olympics Golden Goal, scored on Feb 28, 2010, had much to do with why Crosby gained entry to the OC. One can probably argue that it was the main reason.
On that note, we call attention to the fact that Crosby entered the OC 4687 days after Golden Goal Sunday...
And why might someone post something like that on a message board that is about numbers and hockey? The answer may seem obvious at a glance: Crosby's number 87 appears at the end of said string (as does his birthdate)..
This makes the 4687 duration is 'relevant', but what about the odds? We appear to be looking at a 'hit' that should happen every 100 days. That is, the same outcome would occur when the Golden Goal was 4787 days in the past, or 4887 days, 4987, 5087, etc. etc. ). Quite rare, but nothing to write home about, let alone on a message board like this.
What makes this 4687 duration worth sharing - and certainly much more improbable - is the 46 that which precedes 87.
The 46 correlations to the location of the Golden Goal, Vancouver, which was incorporated on April 6 or 4/6 in 1886.
One could say that this 'completes' 4687's relevance, so to speak, since Crosby-87 scored the Golden Goal in Vancouver-46.
Actually it doesn't, because Fate or lady luck has doubled down....
The Olympics were (re)born in Athens on April 6 or 4/6 in 1896.
To summarize, the duration between Crosby's Golden Goal and his appointment to the Order of Canada, 4687 days, is symbolically relevant to the Golden Goal on three counts, through 'Vancouver Olympics + Crosby symbolism. That data is confined to settled social conventions, resulting in a meaningfully symbolic picture whose time-sensitive appearance must be much more improbable than one would must otherwise conclude when Crosby's 87 is considered alone.
PS - One more thing should be pointed out regarding that remarkable and improbable fact that Vancouver and the Olympics would be 'born' on the same 4/6 date. Any such mention should note that they were born exactly 10 years apart since, of course, Vancouver hosted the 2010 Olympics.
Happy New Year's all, PH
