It was lower in Crosby’s prime too though

The only thing we can do is compare when McDavid gets to that amount of games I guess but at the same point in their careers Crosby has a head start largely because of this.

Crosby had 397 points in 290 games at 21 years old. He ran into injury troubles or would have hit 1000 at age 26

Ya, for as good as Crosby's career has been it does have a bit of a "what if" feel to it. Crosby, in the 6 seasons between his his two Art Ross years averaged 1.43 points/game (117 point pace over a 82 game season). Unfortunately he also missed ~150 games over that same period of time.

I think peak McDavid with elite linemates could probably produce 130 points. Hopefully he gets to spend a few years with surrounding talent like that. Draisaitl is a solid player but he needs to play on another line to balance things. Hall and Wahlstrom would’ve been something.

He likely won't be able to do it in as few games as Crosby did, but he'll likely do it earlier because he likely won't run into the bad injury luck that younger Crosby had.

Fingers crossed, all those what if's... I really hope McDavid can start to creep up on some of 99's records. Even though that point total is untouchable...
