Rod Stewart
Early Rod Stewart, up to, say, Atlantic Crossing, was great in my book. Faces was a fun band, too.

Great list except early Terry Kath led era Chicago IMO Is about as good as it gets. 25 or 6 to 4 has one of the greatest guitar solos ever. After his death the Peter Cetera led Chicago turned into sappy elevator music.

Barry Manilow (Somewhere In The Night)
Bee Gees (New York Mining Disaster 1941)
Captain and Tennile (Love Will Keep Us Together)
The Carpenters (On Top Of The World)
Chicago (Hard To Say I'm Sorry)
Lionel Richie (Penny Lover)
Little River Band (Night Owls)
Michael Bolton (OK, he sucks)

you do realize that the examples in brackets could actually be prime reasons why a lot of people think the bands on your list suck?

The fact you have the Beegees on the list tells me you have only listen to a few of their songs and my guess 77/78. I get it you hate middle of the road soft music. But both The Carpenters and the Bee Gees actually had some interesting arrangements to their music

plus Karen Carpenter has one of the greatest voices of all time.

I used to make fun of The Bee Gees as a kid/teen, but I really like a lot of their songs now ironically.

If I told my 18 year old self some of my favorite artists would become Bee Gees, Billie Holiday, Nat King Cole, Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye and Don Carlos - I would have asked what drugs I was on.
