Tough call. Strome is much closer to NHL ready, but it at this point I think his ceiling is probably a high end 2C, maybe a borderline 1C . Hayton has 1C potential, I'm going with him. PO isn't as far behind as this poll will look, he looked great at camp.

At this point it is Strome but it will be the last year he can hold that spot. If he is unable to graduate to the NHL then he will begin to fall on my list rather quickly.

Rank the potential and their progress in their respective arcs, otherwise you'll end up trying to tell someone Kyle Wood is better than Joseph...

Hayton hasn't proved he is a 1C in junior, let alone the NHL.

Merkley was an AHL all star. Scored at a ppg pace. He's a legitimate top 50 prospect in entire league.
I’m aware. I love Merkley. I’m not saying he’s far down the list. I’m just saying he’s below the 3 prospects that are already listed. He gets knocked down a spot or 2 on my list until he proves he can stay healthy.

I had Merkley 5th last year after POJ, wouldn't change their relative spots. Merkley's big problem besides the injuries is he's at the age where he needs to at least be on the radar to make the NHL club but I don't think he is for a variety of reasons. I don't seem him seriously challenging for a roster spot this season and forwards usually need to make an impact of some sort by 22-23. So while he's not in outright danger of it just yet, he's getting uncomfortably close to blowing the conventional development window. Not a backbreacker necessarily if that happens but you'd have to start asking questions. Not too much different from Strome really except he doesn't have the pedigree or level of dominance or a somewhat successful cup of coffee in 2018 to look at.

Anyway, suggest more names since it seems like this poll is a blowout.

Wow, with that choice we're really up shit's creek - Strome or Merkley. No surefire NHL stars there.

Yup. If Zadina were drafted he would, in my opinion, be higher than Strome. I just see higher upside in Zadina than Stromer at this point.

I think we had a very weak draft in 2018. I don't see a single player in our pipeline that is a top anything. No top defense, no top line players.

I'm interested to see camp. I noticed Bahl more than POJ, in the rookie game.

I would hope so, considering Bahl's size is very obvious. Almost as obvious as how far ahead POJ was compared to every other D (Bahl included) all camp.
These development camps don't mean a whole hell of a lot, same with rookie camp. Let's see if these kids can make it to main camp for us to see where their development is at.

The draft is a crap shoot at the best. We all, or most thought Strome would be on the main club by now. Most feel Hayton is not worthy of 5OA. Never know with kids and how they develop and if the scouts did, their job would be easy.

Agreed, how POJ and Bahl do against Liam Kirk matter much less than how they do against Alex Galchenyuk. I voted Strome, still see insane potential in him. I'm disappointed it hasn't happened faster but haven't lost confidence that it will happen eventually.
