Voted Wood, but Dineen is probably next for me. Dineen's ceiling is slightly higher but Wood is a much safer projection at this point. I think folks are going to be surprised by him. He's a more mobile Stone.

I'm also hopeful that Samuelsson bounces back this year. I would not have expected him to fall out of the top 10 a year ago. He can still be a very useful third line forward, but time is running out for him to make that jump.

I'm a big Samuelsson fan. Rough injury last year, but I still think there is still some upside there if the ankle has healed properly. I still remember watching him be Portlands best player in the AHL playoffs.

I'm not sure Dineen cracks my Top 15. Garland has led CHL in scoring for 2 seasons. Dauphin, Gaudet, Samuelsson, hell even Bunting I would argue are still ahead in depth chart.

I can see this. Dineen's physical skills leave a lot to be desired. Not very strong, not very fast, defensive reads aren't very good as well. Ceiling is very high because of his outstanding offensive instincts, the the floor is very low as well.

It's tough because I think those four guys you listed will be NHL players (I've been a big Bunting fan since we drafted him so ymmv on that one), yet Dineen's upside is quite a bit higher than theirs.

It basically comes down to what you value more, a guy who is 80% likely to be a 3-4th line center in Dauphin for example, or a guy who has a 20% chance of becoming a 2nd paring D, PP QB

I like Dineen more than Gaudet, but I would have to think about Dauphin, Bunting, and Sammy

Even more so when you look and see that Bunting and Dauphin were approaching a ppg after we trade away the AHL depth and they saw more playing time.

at this point it isn't as much about top end potential for me, but about players that are a pretty safe bet to play in the NHL and contribute. So this time I'm going with the prospect who didn't look out of place in limited time last year with Dauphin

Dauphin has a good shot at being Brad Richardson. Equally good chance of being Phil McRae.

Garland has the same problems Dineen does.

In Garland's draft year he had 54pts in 51gp. Dineen had 59pts in 68gp.

Garland is two years further ahead in his development, but I see his weaknesses today as more glaring (and harder to fix) than Dineen's. He's got terrific skill and vision, but he's going to need a lot of time and coaching to rework his game. Two years from now, he's more likely to be in the ECHL than in the NHL.

I don't consider Garland a legitimate NHL prospect. I'd absolutely love for him to prove me wrong, but I see him being an AHL scorer for the majority of his career.

Who knows, but a talented, creative right shot winger is a great flyer to take in the 5th round. Skaters like him have a better chance to succeed today than they have at any point in the last 100 years. Maybe he tops out at "Andy Miele," but Andy Miele and Conor Garland and Chris Conner and Johnny Gaudreau are all just different grades on the same homework assignment. Garland has a way to go before I vote for him in this poll, but he's one of my favorite Coyotes prospects.

And the Wet Blanket Award goes to Mosby.

1 stud (Murphy), 2 solid NHL'ers, 2 TBD's (Hank and Domingue) and 15 total misses. Egads ...

FWIW, The Hockey News has an updated list of each team's top 10 prospects in their pool guide issue. The list here is pretty similar to that in THN:

2. Dvorak
3. Keller
4. Chychrun
5. DeAngelo
6. Perlini
7. Merkley
8. MacInnis
9. Fischer
10. Garland
