Coyotes encouraging tailgating for weekend games

Interesting question, how many teams have arenas where fans can tailgate at the parking lot? Islanders until they move to Brooklyn, Carolina? Ottawa, but do canadians tail gate?

A lot of teams have arenas in the city with not a lot of room to spare.

If they make it like a miniature Coyotes carnival for the kids this will be popular. If it's just roped off parking... yeah.

Well, whatever selected lots there are, I am sure that this is also done to attract larger groups into the more expensive parking zones.

So, is anyone down for splitting some parking fares and being able to have a tailgate setup for some games? I still have yet to get my parking passes for the year, but will do so soon. My truck can hold a grill and some other things.

The only thing I ask is that I would be unable to organize this on the whole, but would obviously have the passes and vehicle to be as involved as possible, if people are interested in getting together for this.

I believe it's illegal here in Canada. In fact it's been one of the "hiccups" why the Buffalo Bills' games in Toronto haven't gotten as great of turnout.

Tailgating is illegal?
Open flames, obstacles in the parking lot, open containers and no bartenders. "Illegal" sounds very melodramatic, but there are a lot of places it's not allowed. Germans are free to drink whatever wherever, but grilling up your own sausages in the parking lot is a no-go. And anyone who tries to drink on the street in the UK is going to get beaten to death with those large, furry black hats.

The alcohol in public part. Grilling and such is fine.

Makes sense.

Screw tailgating. I'm over the moon excited about ALB talking about bringing back the busses.

I had completely forgotten about it because I wasn't 21 years old at that point. They used to have busses at the Old Chicago on Alma School and the US60 that would pick you up, take you to the game, and then take you back to the bar after. They ran those busses also from the Native New Yorker on Dobson and Guadalupe. Both locations are within two miles from my house.

Tailgating furthers the need for a DD. Busses eliminate that need.

It would be INCREDIBLE to have a safe ride from the neighborhood bar to the west side for a Yotes game and back.

I told people about this at work and some of my non hockey friends. They're all excited to do it.

Curious to hear a local's opinion. Is the introduction of tailgating trying to enhance game experience for current fans, or trying to attract new fans? Or both I guess? Would some Cards fans for example show up and participate just because there is tailgating?

Forgive me for sounding foreign. As mentioned earlier tailgating isn't really a thing here in Canada.

The weather during most of the hockey season doesn't really lend itself to tailgating in Canada regardless of the legality.

Both really. The weather is great here year round, so Arizona is an ideal place to tailgate before games if you're into that sort of thing.

Man I wish like hell I could make it down for these. I'd even bring my own grill and food. Just wanna kick back and have some good food and good times with my fellow Yotes fans.

Other than Ottawa, I don't believe the other rinks have the parking lots setup to do that. I know Toronto and Vancouver don't, but am not sure about Calgary or Edmonton (was dark when I went to those games).

I'm all ears, please explain. I didn't hear about this one.

Watch the NHLN interview on the Yotes site. He said they're looking into bringing back the busses.

I recall from like eight years ago that they had busses at least one or twice from those two locations. I'm hopeful that they do so again.

Had a quick OT question, didn't want to start a new thread for it.

is Jobing.com arena pronounced with a Job or a Jobe?

Job.

I wonder who will put in bids when the Jobing.com deal is up. Maybe we'll be the (another local web company) Go Daddy Centre.

I wouldn't mind GoDaddy Centre. We still have 3 years before the change but my guess is Gila River Casino Arena or maybe even Arizona Lottery Arena.

One more crazy one... I went to a game at the Staples Center and they had a big promotion for Visit Alberta. Since our owners have such close ties to Alberta maybe even Visit Alberta Arena.
