That whole line looks good, very good at puck-hounding. He’s going to be good but I’ll be shocked if he doesn’t wind up in Sweden. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets a few games at the start of the season though.

I really like Sherwood’s speed and tenacity. Could eventually be a good bottom 6 player.

Thanks for updates. How has Terry looked?

For anyone that went to the game: How did Strome look for the Yotes? Hard to gauge on the radio and neither team believes in streaming. Thanks

He’s been absolutely walked at least 4 times. When he HAS the puck he’s pretty effective, much more so than Schenn. But he’s not real good at the whole “defense” part of “defenseman”.

I completely agree. Schenn has been better without the puck, and Sustr better with the puck.

I thought he looked decent but not great. That line was trying to play a little too cute at times but they’re reading each other pretty well.

Terry can absolutely hang with that line, but I agree that they were a little bit too cute tonight. Still had a number of quality opportunities and most dangerous line IMO.

Didn't notice Strome much(but honestly wasn't paying too much attention), the player that really stood out to me was Perlini. He was a force with his size, was dangerous throughout the game, and had his nose in the middle of everything tonight.

Was I the only one completely thrown off that Kevin Klima's jersey says in fact "Kevin Klima" on the back?

Here's what I saw:

Terry, in terms of 2018-19 NHL impact, is still very meh. Not bad, just meh. I keep waiting for him to do something good or bad that really impacts a play, and it doesn't really happen. Best things I remember are him making a pass from behind the red line to Rakell (but I think that might have been him losing a board battle and the puck just bounced back to him) and hustling once to prevent an icing. I think he has a *tiny* bit of float in him at times, but that could be just being a little nervous on an NHL stage and not always sure what to do immediately. There are plays I think he could contest better if he took one more stride.

Steel was invisible in the first period and then turned it on even before the goal in the second. What I like about him is that he has a clear tool (hands) that will produce plays in the NHL, even if he has downsides that will let him be neutralized at times too. Was very close to a second goal but shanked a rolling puck with half the net to shoot at.

Lundestrom showed some willingness to lean into bodies when fighting for position that I really liked.

I thought Sustr had decent night but that's grading him on the No. 6 Defenseman curve. His intentionally wide slapper off the boards to produce the first goal was very nice.

I feel pretty confident Comtois is gonna make some sort of career for himself as an NHLer. At worst he can be a fourth-line energy guy, and he could probably fill that role right now if we needed him to.

Sherwood is starting to sway me too, I could see him getting some NHL minutes at times this year. He plays very fast vertically, skating end-to-end, and that's something we always need more of.

Blandisi had a few nice plays, including the one that led to his pretty weak hooking call. He tapped the guy's hands but didn't pull on him at all.

None of the defensemen who are not already in our NHL top-4 really covered themselves in glory. I thought Petersson got beat on some 1-on-1 puck battles he should have won easily with his positioning.

Gibson did what Gibson does.

Outshot 18-2 in the third. Looks like the turtle defense was in full effect.

But honestly. I hate that so much in Randys systems. We get outshot the shit out of ourselves and we were playing a bad Coyotes team full of prospects.

My take from yesterday:

Sherwood looked a lot better. I noticed him doing good things. Made a nice pass on fowler’s goal. Maybe being with better line mates helped.

I really like Mahura. I put him as our #5 (Unpopular opinion I’m sure). He is not super slow for his size, and he picks good angles when defending players. He also is no slouch with the puck.

Peterson was meh. Doesnt look that good.

Steel finally broke through with the nice goal. Good for him. He needs to learn how to not lose every faceoff though.

Terry does alright, but isn’t top line quality. He could maybe plug in against lighter competition Idk. He didn’t look bad or anything.

Getz and Rakel literally ignore the other 3 teammates on the ice. They circle around and wait for the other person to get open regardless of who else is open.

Sustr with some dumb plays, but still no Bieksa. Schenn didn’t look slow to me. He was not too noticeable.

Lundstrom didn’t look out of place, but didn’t accomplish anything either.

The team looked a lot better overall, but that phx team they iced was traaaaaaaaash.

Also Gibson doesn’t bleed bs goals, and that confidence eminates to the team.
