Are people thinking the government is going to pay them their current wages?

How about just doing max EI tax free for everyone, whether laid off or not?

Good old socialism.
When you take a decision to close the restaurant where someone earns their living then you better step up and pay them WHOLE. That is autocratic act and you can't puff and blow at the same time. These people lost their income through no fault of their own. You can't say to them we will only pay you 573 per week and oh well sorry to learn you were making $75,000 per year but now you are making $54,000 per year less taxes. That is complete and utter BS.

I live in BC, so, I don't know what BC gov would give her, or small business owners, but, it's seems unfair to say, put rents on hold for 2 months, and if you depend on those rents to live, well, whatever they get is the way it is.
Like I said this is not going to be fair no matter what. We all should know that. It will be on provinces to help small businesses. Let's hope they do the right thing too.

I wouldn't think she is out of pocket permanently, and to be fair, I'm not sure they can make her do anything. If she doesn't get paid, she can probably go to court to have them evicted ... which depending on where you live mightn't be worth the battle. Getting people evicted in Calgary is extremely difficult.

I certainly hope our government isn't going to pay anything more than a reasonable living expense to everyone.

Alberta lays off doctor's and so we're going to have tax payers paying them $400k?

By the end of this we will all be making about the same, we'll all be equal just some will be more equal than others.

Yeah, Ontario still runs your privileges doesn't it.

All private in Alberta, pot and booze.
So? I don't care who runs it. I'm not big into booze and find it hilarious everyone is getting worked up over the fact they potentially can't buy it for a few weeks.

Everyone ready for the NWO? Everyone gets $1200 per month unless you are a banker or elite who actually caused the mess.

I live north of Toronto - I had to drive into the city on Saturday night to visit someone; I've never had such a quiet, easy drive into the city. On a Saturday night as well.
That is because most people got confused and stuck in front of their TVs while flipping channels in attempt to find Hockey Night in Canada.

Again it is not about $$$ yes if dat worker lost her job because of no fault of her own then yes. Those issues are more complicated. This one is really really simple. Open the restaurant and server making their $75,000 tomorrow. There was no lost job it was a GOVT autocratic decision why she lost her income.

If you don't pay insurance are you insured?

I'm not sure if you've been working under the table you are entitled to benefits you didn't pay.

A friend of mine, has worked more under the table than above the table and he's closing in on retirement.

small CPP, OAS, GIS ... not sure he's going to be eating well.

Kind of like patch workers who spend like they're going to make those dollars forever.

Heck, people pay life insurance and they don't get to enjoy that either.
