Couturier, Nugent-Hopkins, Strome and Huberdeau. As an Avs-fan and with our depth at center, I'm really wondering which of these four can successfully be moved to the wing in the NHL. Why and why not?
Well Huberdeau is listed has a centre but he has played every game this year on the wing ( Zack Phillips being his centre ) He is just as strong on either position. All his points this year are from the wing
If the Avs don't end up top 4, I want either Strome or Huberdeau. Just from doing some reading and investigating, it sounds like both could play that position easily. As mentioned above, Hubey already does.
As stated in a previous post, Huberdeau has been playing wing all season and has really excelled and gotten better and more comfortable as the season has gone on. Couturier plays center, but I could see him being a dominant winger at the NHL level because he just has a dynamic skillset. I think Strome and Nugent-Hopkins both would be more beneficial if they are kept at center. They both possess above average hockey sense (pardon the pun) and vision which should make them among the top picks in the draft from the center position.
The style of play the Strome plays would definatly not be harmed by a move to the wing. But I think any of these guys could do it fairly easily
This pretty much sums it up perfectly. If I was asked which of these players I could see being the most dominate winger in the NHL, I'd have to say Couturier.
