Does this also count youth players? In some of these countries, like Hungary and Japan there is a huge number of players who quit after their jr years. In Japan the school programs for ice hockey are quite alright but there is no way forward except for advanced leagues, resulting in middling talent hanging up their skates. This really kills the chance of getting late bloomers and in turn probably are one of the reason their hockey programs aren't more successful.

The numbers are not comparable, merely the number of registered players in each country and what that means varies greatly.
