You know... Around
Artemi Panarin (23 years old) 54gp 26g 36a 62pts in KHL. 5th most points/3rd most points per game. Would help fill a big need at LW. Very skilled guy, although on the smaller side (5'11" 170--- similar to giroux). Wants to play in the NHL next year apparently. Would anyone else love the Flyers to take a stab at him?

Why not, if he can help the team then no reason not to try for him. I'm sure there will be a ton of teams after him though, could be hard to convince him to come to a team that's a few years from seriously competing. Although that could also mean we can offer more playing time for him so who knows.

I actually tweeted his agent earlier saying if he is looking for an opportunity, the lw spot on the Giroux-Voracek line is open. Only second tweet ever and had a typo :(.

How much would he be asking for though? and I see other teams possibly jumping on it ahead of us. Like someone already said "competing" teams that need a quick spot fill.

It would be an ELC and the KHL playoffs will last long enough so that no one can burn a year off.

From Friedman (btw the HWC's run until the middle of May):
7. Speaking of Russia, NHL teams are scouting Artem Panarin, a 23-year-old forward with St. Petersburg. He led them in regular-season scoring (ahead of Ilya Kovalchuk) with 26 goals and 62 points in 54 games. Panarin wants to play in the upcoming world championship, so he’s not coming now, but whoever gets him can sign him to a two-year, two-way, entry-level contract.

Since the contract is mandated by the CBA, “opportunity is the key,†agent Tom Lynn said. (Lynn also represents Viktor Tikhonov, who is planning an NHL return.) Lynn said six teams are “very active†in their pursuit, with at least 20 inquiring. But there’s time here, too.

I was going to post a thread about Panarin today oddly enough. This guy certainly has some talent that we could use on the left side. If he wants playing time he's got a wide open spot at LW and on the 2nd Powerplay unit. Hopefully the Flyers are interested. As with any European/undrafted/NCAA free agent, it's worth taking the chance on a low risk/ high reward player.

Hex did say they had their eye on both NCAA and European free agents. Seems like they typically for the non well known Europeans though. I wont complain, seems to work!

It'd be my understanding that since he has played a KHL game, that he would need to pass through waivers. I don't think burning a year of an ELC is possible in this case.

Welp. I wish this had happened.

I think Panarin had his pick of where he wanted to play and chose Chicago. I think Philly was in on him though. Would have been amazing to have him on G's LW.

Panarin and Chicago were a match made in heaven. Chicago needed a top six forward on an ELC. Panarin got immediate playing time on a contender.
