Pretty shocking how much of a drop-off Crosby has had since last season. Dupuis seems to have been dragged down with him while Kunitz is quietly playing better than most people give him credit for.

If Crosby goes back to his old dominating self with around 55% corsi, the penguins will at least make the playoffs, but if this new Crosby is here to stay.. it's gonna be some tough years ahead.

If your best players aren't your best players, then you are in big trouble. This isn't something new for Crosby either. His 5v5 points/production has been declining hard over the last 2 years. It is time to move on from him before we are stuck with that god awful contract.

This graph is very telling IMO

Things seem to be improving with the new coach. The penguins have generated a lot of shots in these past few games even though nothing went in. This is just bad luck though, so if they keep playing like this the wins will start rolling in soon.

I wouldn't give up on the season just yet. Even Crosby is showing some hints of his old self lately, and the east is not very strong, so I don't think the penguins are too far away from going on a little playoff run.

The rankings are pretty telling, but MJ's system knocked about 5 points off everyone compared to say, the Bylsma years. We had a coach that needed to be fired, we may as well consider it a new season stats-wise starting from 4 games ago.

Guess it's a good sign that the 3 bottom possession players aren't on the team anymore (for better or worse).
