Death tolls are a lot lot higher than what it being reported. Many just die at home of this virus.

This is the most easily spreadable disease I've ever heard of. No one is sure how exactly this is spread. 3000+ on a cruise ship, most, if not all are isolated from each other. Yet, the number of cases keep rising on that ship. The air flow / ventilation / pipes / whatever seems to carry this virus. Not only that, but the most dangerous part about this virus is that in incubates (for maybe as long as 24 days on exceptional cases) and the carriers don't even know they have it. But, they're spreading it.

Seems to not do much to children (only real great news about this virus) according to Dr. John Campbell (look him up on YT) based on the info he found.

Anyways, this thing is out of hand in HuBei province. Not sure about the rest of China, but there was a leak that there might be 3000 cases in Shanghai. However, that "leak" quickly got deleted. If this is true, then oh boy... Wouldn't surprise me cause even now, the CCP is still trying to cover things up.

For those saying this is like the flu...well, it's not. Reinfection, according to some sources, could make this a lot lot worse. That doctor who warned others about this virus, died and he was only 34. He was exposed to this virus...like a lot.

This is pretty much under control in Canada and the US...for now. However, if this thing gets out of control in N. America, then the whole NHL season could be cancelled. Having said that though, they have found a promising treatment for this.

Apple (corp) announces company finances impacted by coronavirus, both in production delays due to shutdowns and lower demand in China.

Macau to reopen casinos soon

(I ordered something from China via Amazon. Marked as shipped two days after order in mid January; got tracking # email last night, so delayed about 3 weeks)

Have to think that GDP internationally impacted by virus and closures. Could impact discretionary spending every where

One smaller impact may be reduced team merchandise. Consumer packaged goods is currently seeing about a 3 week delay on top of a typical busy Chinese New year back up.

I'm not sure how teams buy their merch, as in do they buy for the season and then sell down, or how many waves.

But overall CPG is anticipating some empty shelves at your local retailers.

As someone who's day job is following the stock market, today was a really really bad day. Dow down 1031 points, basically because of a combination of Bernie Sanders winning Nevada and Coronavirus. This thing is not going away anytime soon.

So much for this thing dying off like SARS.

SARS had much lower reported numbers but still had new cases being reported for several months. Also had a much higher fatality rate, though. Coronavirus looks more comparable to swine flu so far, which lasted almost a year and topped out at over 20 million cases and over 100,000 deaths (and didn't see a major spike in cases until a couple of months in, iirc.)

One would hope that Coronavirus has already seen its spike (which not so subtly began almost exactly on Chinese New Year.) Problem of course being that the Olympics are in Asia this year. Though Tokyo is like a billion degrees in the summer these days so maybe germs just won't be able to survive.

Not sure how much truth is to this story

But, in the comment section from people claiming to be hospital staff, they seem to agree with the video. If this is true, then Sabres players could possibly contract this and spread it through the whole league.

No matter what, I wouldn't go to any crowded places (like a hockey game) right now.

I live in South Korea, they're quaranteening some of the cities, public schools have been postponed a week as well. Academies have been closed, it's all been quite fun to watch as I wash my hands and face, go to the gym, live normally (without a mask), and watch people lose their minds that foreigners here are not following Korean standards of outbreak.

Reminds me of MERS, good ol' memories.

Btw, I just want to add that the very few numbers of cases in both Canada and the US does seem a suspicious.

You cant find something youre not looking for. CDC admitted yesturday they have only tested 414 people in all of the US. Canada has tested 1400.

South Korea has tested 27,000 people.

I mean, we have 2 giant ass oceans it has to cross while Europe is connected to Asia.

Do people carrying the disease just swim across those 2 giant ass oceans? Before all these travel bans, guess how many flights were coming into N. America from China? There are still flights coming directly from other countries where the outbreak is prevalent, like Iran, S. Korea, Italy, etc..

Hopefully every customs agent is accurately tracking passport history and not just point of origin.

Italy had some people from China enter after Italy banned Chinese flights. They managed to travel to Russia and then fly from Russia to Italy.

I would suspect there are more cases already in the US/Canada where people have gotten exposed and have no reason to think they were exposed to Coronavirus and that they just have the flu.
