Actually the exact opposite sir. I am pro science in every way. Can you say 100% every time you put on or take off the mask you thoroughly wash or disinfect your hands? How often do you wash your mask? The masks while indeed helping to give some resistance to the aerosols are only effective if all other measures are followed as well. Trust me I base most if not all my beliefs in scientific method.

I outlined what I would have liked to see a month or so ago. Today was essentially it except they still for some inane reason are allowing churches to remain open and wont shift to curbside pickup only for non-essential businesses.

The 1968-70 Hong Kong Flu pandemic caused more deaths than this one and was more highly contagious. yet hardly any measures beyond a too late vaccine program were taken for that. No shutdowns of any sort. Responsible for 1-4M deaths world wide. Covid-19 is sitting at 1.5M.

1968 flu pandemic | History, Deaths, & Facts | Britannica

You've bought hook line and sinker that we have to be throwing every restriction book invented at Covid 19 to survive..

The virus will pass on its own, or in severity, and already has been. Deaths/cases are already 1/8 to 1/10 of what they were in the spring.

All we had to do is wait. This is the ONLY continent in the world where cases are increasing.

SCIENCE!

Care to provide a scientific source for your assertion that everyone is getting sick "mainly do to people most likely contracting the virus from the mask itself"?

When we start hearing about people randomly getting accosted and fined or receiving warnings at parks, toboggan hills, dog parks I'll let you know. They were doing some of that even in the Spring and giving out warnings even without stating why they were doing that. Twice during the spring they were writing out license plates of all the people parked in a park. They wouldn't tell me why. Couldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it here.

Now that authorities have been granted MUCH more license to do this I have zero faith that the power won't be abused and likely by some agent of authority just as pissed at this complete lockdown as many people are.

They went from an acceptable level of restrictions clear into the red.

Plus they sold us out.

Tough spot they were in. Kenney held out as long as he could. The forecast for the next few weeks with the R0 factor above 1 is that it isn't looking good for our hospitalization levels. Not saying the new restrictions will help, but unfortunately at a point they need to get the numbers under control. I do find it interesting reading a bunch on social media tonight, that Kenney is getting crucified by those who felt he didn't go far enough, and for those who felt he went too far. Pretty much an unwinnable situation for him.

I just dumb this thing down to this. We younger people have to make these extreme sacrifices to protect our elders. Kind of like how they went to war, etc for us. If we have to be told to sit on our a**es for a while, then so be it.

Yep. you know that I've sympathized with him throughout. But he threw his truck keys away today, and they are lost in the snow. For sure after these measures its unwinnable. He just recanted every one of his prior stances. People know it.

just look at the global graph I just posted. All they had to do is wait and watch the Nov 24 restrictions take hold and numbers gradually dissipate. The case numbers weren't even increasing over the last week. Just the resolutions which were going to lead to increased hospital cases for awhile, until thelast measures took effect.

When I say that I am referring g to the virus being blocked by the mask and then transmitted to the wearer once they take it on and off. I am not saying the mask is causing the virus. Look at the numbers before and after mandatory masks were implemented in Edmonton and Calgary thee is a correlation between the two. I am not anti mask but a mask won’t do anything if all other measures are ignored which is what has occurred since August.

Agreed, it's virtually unwinnable no matter what politician we are talking about and that was my original point.

If Kenney had agreed to shut everything down 6 weeks ago, just as we were seeing some modest economic recovery then he would be called the wacko.

Why should this drastically unrequired measure ever be required in Canada, anywhere say outside of Quebec, which still have 12X as many Covid deaths as Alberta?

As the world graph I just posted indicated this is the only continent on EArth where the virus is still increasing, somewhat, albeit it has already showed signs of slowing or plateuing on this continent. Look at the figures for Asia, for Europe. DRASTIC increases. Worst of pandemic there is gone. Done. Its the same virus, it loses hold over time. We were nearing that time.

Social media has rendered the occupation as the domain of the unaffected. But that of course brings its own consequences. We select for individuals that basically have no scruples, no humility, no ability admit wrong, and that are not affected by anything. The ones that do have some kind of these things walk out. This should be an ok comment I made as it is NOT at all partisan in nature. Every stripe sucks now.

Why is it just assumed we are "bending over"? I might as well stop paying taxes and not renew my drivers license. F*** the government. They can't tell me what to do!!!!!!

A virus that can be fought off by younger people (who knows the long term side effects), but can kill your mom or dad or grandparents quickly. Why the fuss right?

I can put up with it for a while. I have been bent over financially from this friggin virus. I can't do anything about it right now.

Consumer confidence doesn't get talked about that much. Open businesses 100%. How many people are confident to go overall. Lets lock down a little and get this done with so businesses, etc can thrive like they were before. Not limp through this.

maybe if I was single or wasn't around somebody who the virus could kill, I would be more of a rebel. I have to play it safe. Who knows. I might be selfish like a lot of really young people right now.

I follow the rules, so even if their were no restrictions, I could still get it, but my chances would be lower with how I act. I would rather get this thing down and have things go kind of back to normal, then just keep everything open and keep having high cases. Then the vaccine is coming. Light at the end of the tunnel.

Yup, you're right... some people on this board just don't get it. Small business are calling for a lockdown because they know it hurts the economy when numbers are high and people don't want to get out there... cancelling reservations. I know people in the therapy business who've had tons of cancellations because people don't want to go in and be next to their therapist or masseuse for like an hour straight.

Too many selfish people in this province for that to ever happen. Look at the outrage in Alberta and around the world where protections are in place to protect people from getting sick or dying. How much has this pandemic been prolonged because there are those who couldn't put a damn cloth over their face when they went out in public or refrain from mass gatherings to stop the spread?

All this virus has shown is how f***ed up the human race is. It's a disgrace.

These are restrictions close to what every sensible nation in the world has done when facing the crisis we are in. There is nothing over and above here. Christ it's still not even enough. They are still too afraid to close retail to the public and go curbside only.

The biggest mistake this government has made wasn't the restrictions announced today. It's that they didn't do this shit 5-6 weeks ago like every doctor and specialist in the province was pleading for them to do.

You know this is false. Stated absolutes almost always are. Throughout the pandemic, and in every area of the world there were Doctors, specialists calling for both more or less restrictions, for both, and signing declarations as such. If you have even remotely followed the pandemic you know this. But you haven't.

Are you ever going to answer my question? How many people can say that they wash or disinfect their hands before and after putting on their mask? Can you? Are you wearing a mask when having sex? This was another recommendation we have been asked to consider.

Hinshaw isn't even following mask protocol during any of her updates.

Not the only one noticing it. She's putting her mask flat down on the podium where everybody is speaking, where droplets from everybody land on the podium, lol, thats where she's putting her mask. She's the health CEO of a province and doesn't model better mask behavior.

Several of us have commented on this in what has become a meme like distraction. Oh she did it again, every friggen time.

You should either hold the mask by a drawstring making sure it does not touch a contaminated surface or simply hang it somewhere. Even putting it in a pocket is better.

I got a laugh out of that awkward guy who spoke. I don't know his name. He pretended to sanitize his hands when he walked to the podium lol
