A thread by Dan Kelly CFIB supports extending CERB with a few important modifications: 1. Ensuring Parliament passes proposed legislation to end benefits if an employer offers a return to work 2. Like EI, requiring users to be available & actively looking for work (barring health/family issues). Allowing CERB recipients to earn more than $1000 without losing all benefits (phasing out benefits with additional earnings). A growing # of employers are reporting CERB is serving to delay employees return to work. This was one of the programs intended goals during shutdown. While it is too soon to end CERB as thousands do not have a job to which to return, changes are needed for the recovery phase.
